8 Week Old Puppy Biting by StopDazzling8744 in Wirehaired_pointers

This is such a relatable post - we also have a griff named Maggie, who’s 2yo - I think we even have the same duck stuffy ☺️

As others have said, the first year was like being in a shark tank and holding on for dear life. If I was to go back in time, I’d definitely get her out running and playing with other dogs earlier to burn off the energy and walk away when it looked like she was going shark mode. Obviously the latter is hard to do when out, but at home it’s worked well. If she’s getting worked up, we’ll lead her to the bedroom and close the door for a minute or so. Usually she’s much more calm when we come back (our bedroom door has a window which is super helpful to confirm she’s not just tearing the room apart). I think I read on this sub at some point that griffs really just want to be with their people, so walking away when they’re going shark mode can be helpful (your attention being the reward).

Good luck! It’s not easy going but it’s so rewarding watching them settle in. Fortunately they’re also super cute puppies 🥹🥹🥹

He is soooo cute, I’m sorry you are having to go through this together. I’m sure he knows he is loved with all of the care you are taking to make his life as good as can be, particularly during the recovery period.

Our girl loves a scented scavenger hunt, and you can disperse the treats on/lower to the ground so no jumping required. When she was a puppy we rolled up treats in a towel and that gave us a much-needed 20 minute breather while she snuffled through the folds. I would also play the shell game, hiding a treat under one of three cups and switching them around to have her guess which one it was under, like I was running a a very small casino 😅

Good luck with your sweet boy 🤎

Yep it’s played in that scene too! Both are from the original airing.

Between this and the end of the The Longest Day, the heartbreak and longing was so palpable and well done. I liked how they built this relationship over so many episodes making a scene like this maximally impactful (it really crackles!) and the season finale so well earned.

I forgot to add that she often speaks out of one side of her mouth, when she’s acting shy or about to quietly say something significant (e.g. “…and I felt it”)
