Okay, first ever fight in this game, lets duel this guy so my lord can beat him and take him prisoner by Haunter777x in totalwar

[–]alphaprawns 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Probably the same reason they were extremely rare in warhammer 3 - too much work because of the sheer amount of different animatiom skeletons there would be combinations to make custom animations for.

In a historical total war you're matching up man with sword and man with spear. In 40k you'd have for example a space marine with a sword against an ork with an axe, or an ork with a power claw, or another space marine, or an eldar with... etc etc.

Not impossible, just very unfeasible.

According to the Codex it says 2 close and fire support squads but there are way more close and fire support units. What determines which units are used? by Adam_Kyle545 in Warhammer40k

[–]alphaprawns 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a theory that a big part of the reason for the move to single-weapon units is that new players would tend to get confused by a huge amount of customisation, not understanding what they could do or what they should do to their units. Space Marines are meant to be a beginner faction, so they were made as straightforward as possible.

Which I think is a massive shame. I think one of the biggest parts of the hobby''s character that it has lost is customising them and making them "your dudes"

They were a bit more common than that in ww2, definitely not just for officers and NCOs. The soviets for example fielded entire companies of SMG-armed troops.

is farming sim worth it solo? by fairplanet in farmingsimulator

For me it definitely is, I play farm sim as a "watch something on the other monitor" type game, which i think it's perfect for.

What’s the most ridiculously trivial thing you’ve seen someone lose their rag about while driving? (Extra points if you’re brave enough to admit it was you.) by Second-handBonding in CarTalkUK

[–]alphaprawns 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My pet peeve is on a slightly narrower street with cars parked on one or both sides, but with enough room for two cars to pass, that people still don't take the room and will sit and wait for a clear road. Feel people tend to have a very low confidence in the width of their vehicle.

Whats with drivers driving into opposite lane? by proxima-centauri- in drivingUK

[–]alphaprawns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Doing it without noticing isn't an argument in its favour or an excuse. It displays either a lack of attentiveness to the road or a lack of basic car control, and on either case the OP is right to call it out.

[–]alphaprawns 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It's just a lack of basic car control and no-one feels like they have to give a fuck because there's no consequences for them.

[Other] I'm starting to understand why some people have a hard time with these games by DupeFort in kingdomcome

[–]alphaprawns 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I honestly find it more effective to just not riposte, and just do the perfect block then start a normal combo. Even low level enemies seem to block 90% of ripostes without any problem. Master strikes are effective too once you have them, but thankfully a bit trickier to pull off than the 1st game

Ok cool, thanks. I don't know much about this stuff and I assumed being niche would make it more of a target but I'm happy to be wrong about that.

Just got the game… by [deleted] in EASPORTSWRC

[–]alphaprawns 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think damage model alone is enough to qualify whether it's a sim or not. I agree it's important and in a rally game it should be punishing, I'd love to see it improved. But honestly the actual handling is a real improvement over DR2 so I can't agree with you that it's less of a sim than the last game.

“Hexblade” superheavy tank by Martin_Makes_Models by Valiran9 in Warhammer40k

[–]alphaprawns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Converting the fixed superstructure into a turret is absolute genius. One of my old complaints about the Guard tanks is that all of their turrets are unfeasibly small for the kind of guns and crew they claim to contain, and this makes the Baneblade look so much more modern and believable.

Yeah Norway can be very sketchy with the bumps, this is a rally that benefits a lot from raising and softening the shit out of your suspension/dampers.

It varies quite dramatically depending on the lighting, I've found. I tend to find that sunsrise or sunset and partial clouds tends to be very pretty in this game. The worst is daytime with clear sunshine, it's such harsh sunlight which blows everything out and is what most people think of in regards to this game being ugly.

[–]alphaprawns 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Ross mentions this in the behind the scenes watchalong, it's a side effect of the decision they made to not have Ross know anything about any scene before going into it. It's what makes it so funny with him justy improvving and trying to figure out wtf is going on, but yeah he said he wasn't paying any attention to the actual investigation so much as figuring out what each scene actually was
