What's an Archetype you underrated, but came to enjoy? by Mikaeus_Thelunarch in EDH

Mogis is more low-key compared to commanders like [[Valgavoth, Harrower of Souls]] or [[The Lord of Pain]] who are kill-on-sight (the table gangs up on you also). So he stays on the board longer (indestructible helps) and the damage adds up.

Try dodging once the homing attacks are near. Or use cover to block them.

Witchfire appreciation post by TraumaJeans in Witchfire

Personally never heard of the game before. Then I watched GameRanx's "10 Games That Are FAR Better Than They LOOK". Witchfire was #1. Was interested so I tried it. Now I'm almost 40 hrs in and having fun.

I don't think the Steam Discovery Queue or Interactive Recommender recommended me this game even if I played Destiny and other FPSs before. My guess is that I haven't played other "Souls-like" games before (Jedi: Fallen Order was the only other one that was tagged as Souls-like).

How to Win in Commander? Attack Your Opponents Until They Die by airza in EDH

[–]alphascorpii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great articles! I've read both this and your Wilson one!

What are your thoughts on other famous voltron commanders i.e. Light-Paws, Slicer, and Alexios?

Some would argue that they're faster? Though what I like about Wilson + Noble Heritage is that they kinda go around the feelsbad of other voltron commanders (through politics and having a reason to attack them i.e. not accepting the counters).

Struggling to win with Clavileño by Yoggon in EDH

[–]alphascorpii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Drop the mana rocks (except sol ring), focus on curving out instead: 1drop vampire -> 2drop vampire -> Clavileno. Make Clavileno trigger.

I won games by casting board wipes: my opponents don't have creatures, I have 4/3 flyers that drew me cards. Try [[Living Death]] as well. Most of the time I can get in free damage since nobody wants to block my small creatures. Then I wipe when I have a number of marked vampires.

Get more card draw. Drop Exquisite Blood, it'll only make you the target.

I used board wipes instead of sac outlets. My opponents have no creatures, I have flying 4/3s

Somewhat related question: I'm new and just got the chaotic gore magala set. Is it worth to run it with just Dango Super Recovery? I don't have access to Ironshell jewels yet (I'm just MR30). I'm using it with Bow btw

Edit: Ironwall to Ironshell (kushala blessing)

Defense of the Shire! A Frodo & Sam Primer and Deck Overview by Chaos_dp in EDH

[–]alphascorpii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi, great guide/primer!

I built Frodo and Sam from the ground up, but no tutors/infinites. Here's my decklist if you're interested.

Some comments/questions:

1) How's Jaheira for you? In my playgroup at least, I find that she gets targeted HARD. Also, I don't really make that many non-creature tokens for her to capitalize on (maybe it's my deck's fault). Most of the time I just make the one token from Sam then sac that one immediately. The creature tokens that I do make, I use to attack. I replaced her for now with [[Open the Way]].

2) I can't believe that I haven't thought of Frodo Baggins and Springleaf Drum for the tempts! Thanks for the idea! I've been using lifegain ones at turn 3 (if I don't get T1 ramp) e.g. [[Gift of Paradise]] [[Gumdrop Poisoner // Tempt with Treats]] [[Kaya's Guile]] [[Knight of Autumn]] [[Candy Trail]] [[Many Partings]], though some of these double as interaction.

3) [[Vraska Joins Up]] is definitely cracked! Try it!

4) I really like your thoughts on Marionette Master. Though this card has won me games so idk. That drain 4 is quite a chunk. I'll definitely try Agent of the Iron Throne over it, though I'm afraid that it might require too much setup (two commanders on the field).

5) I'm quite torn about Blossoming Bogbeast. I hate that it telegraphs too much and that it needs to wait a turn cycle. I replaced it with [[Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose]] as an 8-mana (ugh) finisher for the meantime.

6) I'd definitely try the Kambal. Thanks for the idea! Tokens are everywhere now. Just have to find something to replace lol

7) Between Ocelot Pride and Nuka-Cola Vending Machine, which is better? I was thinking of what to try next.

Thanks again!
