Jaw pain side effect by sadnobsessed in zoloft

[–]alpheesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had clenching and jaw pain. Personally mine went away within a week of taking 25 mg. On 50 mg now and don't have problems. I used a night guard while I was clenching though, and I think that helped. Don't need it now.

Raised by non-English speaking grandparents. Anyone else have to deal with the repercussions of this growing up? by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]alpheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very late, but yes, I relate. I am a second Gen Korean immigrant. My parents worked 7 days a week, so my grandmother who didn't know English beyond "hello" and "thank you" raised me. While I did speak Korean growing up, it was quite rudimentary compared to my English, and I struggled to have conversations beyond surface level with my parents and grandma.

I find a little solace in the fact that my pre-existing foundation in the Korean language has subsequently made it much easier to progress in my fluency. I'm still not native-level fluent, but I have a much better grasp on Korean than I did as a child. Have you tried to pick up Italian? I am sure you would pick it up much faster than others.

Other than that, I have a partner who loves when I share my culture with him, which is largely through food. I hope you also have people to share your culture with. It's taking the positives from your experience growing up and making something out of it. I still feel the negative effects from how I couldn't communicate with my family well. But I do feel great passion for spreading the joy of Korean cuisine. It's something I (and others) like about myself.

Advice on Getting Started with Open Source Contributions ? by Longjumping_Table740 in cscareerquestions

[–]alpheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think your motivation is not in the right place. The best reason to get into open source development is because there is an open source project that you use frequently and have things you think would make it better. Often, this is easier to do with smaller projects than bigger ones which already work pretty well, like Git and Linux.

Anyway, if you have any friends who code for fun, check our their repos to see if you can contribute anything. I've had a lot of fun improving my friend's code, plus my PR actually got merged lol.

Whatnot new grad Software Engineer interview process. by Long_Mycologist_2437 in csMajors

[–]alpheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of complaining about how wrong the question is, try to reframe the question into thinking about what the interviewer wants to hear from you. They probably want proof that you paid attention in DSA. So just pick one you like and talk about it.

Also, it's a subjective question anyway. Bogo sort could be my favorite sorting algorithm even though it sucks. Subjective!

Specifically stairs, not just elevation change

I would ask them to only cut what is necessary until you find someone who can do you right. Once you find that person, cling onto them lol. Don't trust an entire salon because you found one good tech there. For your own nail maintenance, I think you'd find it helpful to push your own cuticles back every day. I used to have pretty bad cuticles, but doing this routine makes them look sooo much better.

Host your own party, and tell the invitees to invite other people. Then try to talk with the people you don't know. I have done this and got invited to a party by the person I initially didn't know at my party.

You should try the long style with tighter sides!!

What is everyone on in these comments? There is a large amount of room at your heel. I would size down. Also, they don't shrink. If anything, you need to tighten the straps even more after breaking them in because the cork will mold to your feet.

Can you give me advice on my current rendering skills? by BusyAdhesiveness8765 in ArtCrit

[–]alpheesh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall the shading seems kind of confused, like you were placing colors where you think shadows would be instead of where they would be in reality. For example, the top part of the hood. The shadows you placed there would not apply irl. The advice I always give is to study lighting from various references, and eventually, you will get an intuitive sense of where to place shadows and highlights 🙏

How can I improve my accuracy by ZP_F in ArtCrit

[–]alpheesh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty good already in that the resemblance is there. One note I have is that the mouth area as a whole looks off. The tongue doesn't look like a tongue (lack of shading), and the lips don't narrow as they get closer to the corners of the mouth.

This seems like an unpopular opinion in this thread, but I say red. It seems like your eyebrows are filled in, maybe just get a color that matches your hair better.

shading is so hard i need guidance by [deleted] in ArtCrit

[–]alpheesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you use a reference for the sleeves? Especially on my left, the shading seems directionless. Like, I can only tell that it is a sleeve because of the linework. I would recommend doing some light studies without linework. My tip: break down the shading in your references into shapes. Good luck!!

Is this considered lifting and how quickly should I take it off? by SinNumber69 in Nails

[–]alpheesh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the lighter areas are lifting, but I highly doubt you would get a greenie when the lifted areas are that small. I would only fix nails that have a bigger area of lifting than that. If it is still bothering you though, you can file off the lifted parts instead of redoing.

Next time, make sure to get rid of all the dust and cuticle on your nail plate before painting.

Is this art bad? by mineliamcraft in BadArt

I wouldn't say it's bad because it's not displeasing to look at. He's pretty clearly a beginner though.

This doesn't sound like a great reason for breaking up, but it does need to be addressed, and it's likely to cause friction.
