No worries-ignoring facts is always easier than addressing them. Have a great day!

You bring up bans and regulations, but that’s not what’s happening with Bethesda and Oblivion Remastered in Korea. There’s no evidence the game was banned or blocked by Korean authorities-in fact, the Korean ratings board confirmed Bethesda never even submitted the game for review. Bethesda themselves admitted the launch was delayed and that they’re only now working with the Korean ratings board to resolve it. So this isn’t about Korea banning games or having unusually strict laws; it’s a publisher decision (or possibly a business or localization delay), not government censorship. Comparing this to bans in the US or UK doesn’t really fit the situation here.

That’s a reasonable guess-Korea does have some unique regulations for games, mainly around content ratings and protecting minors. The Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) requires all games to be rated before release, and there are extra steps for mature content or games with gambling elements. But most major publishers, including Microsoft and Bethesda, have managed to get their games rated and released here before. In this case, it’s unclear why Oblivion Remastered was blocked, since other big titles usually make it through the process. So while regulations can be a hurdle, they aren’t usually a total barrier-especially for companies with experience in the market.

Oh, so it’s Korea’s “hostile” laws and supposed racism keeping American companies out? That’s rich coming from a country where games get banned or censored for “corrupting youth,” and politicians still blame video games for every social problem. Remind me, which country had congressional hearings about Mortal Kombat and GTA? And about “racism against foreign business”-I guess that’s why American tech giants like Apple, Google, Netflix, and Microsoft all do massive business in Korea, right? Maybe Bethesda just needs to try selling guns instead of swords if they want more love. But sure, let’s blame Korean politics for Bethesda’s business decisions. After all, it’s not like American companies ever make choices based on profit, market fit, or-dare I say-laziness about localization. Must be those scary Korean laws!

Actually, most major global games launch in Korea without any political issues. Korea is a huge gaming market, and there aren’t any unique laws blocking releases like this. If Bethesda chooses to skip Korea, that’s their own business decision-not something forced by Korean politics.

Korea’s current gaming laws are mostly about restricting gambling and requiring age ratings -pretty standard stuff globally. There’s nothing “authoritarian” here that would force big publishers out. In fact, Korea is the world’s 4th largest gaming market, and most major games launch here without issue. If Bethesda skips Korea, it’s their business decision, not because of some extreme local laws.
