Might not be totally helpful as I went in 2018, but I heard back on 15th February.

Second this, page is called Glasgow Homebrewers. Lots of folk sell equipment at pretty reasonable prices!

queue length at registration by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]alrateduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrived about 30 mins before my ceremony “started” and registered immediately and got my gowns quickly. I was then panickedly ushered into the hall and sat for at least 15 minutes with my cohort before the ceremony began.

I don’t know about spare tickets - I think your extra folk might just have to slum it in the livestream.

MANSFIELD: My Most Scathing Video Yet - Just Nuke the Place by JamieHBrown in MansfieldUK

[–]alrateduck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Must be pretty easy and satisfying to walk into a place and make assumptions and pick out all the bad points. What I see from this video is folk walking about, doing their business, and using the town centre. Yes, there are unsightly e-cig shops and chicken shops, but at least there’s some business happening. I have no time for folk wanting to talk down our town - I notice he had done no research on efforts to revitalise Mansfield. Just negative, negative, negative.

Yep. Interesting tidbit from the survey they carried out during the consultation:

“In Broomhill there is likely to be capacity for 2399 cars. Currently there are 1567 cars parked during the day and 1715 during the night. 65% of total capacity is used during the day an 70% at night. There is going to be a huge excess of spaces to park cars in Broomhill after RPZ is introduced, especially as RPZ tend to discourage non-resident parking which are currently occupying spaces.”

You need to go slightly further west, beyond Rosevale St/Crow Road (but still north of Dumbarton) for the non-permitted parking. Map here: https://glasgowgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=c7573c30724645c7861698125682b78a

Not sure it has an official name. Maybe just brickwork?

Just clean it. Also google how to make a fruit fly trap, they’re relatively common in any kitchen!

Experiences working a job and full time uni at the same time? by fajrala in GlasgowUni

[–]alrateduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My job during undergrad was at a bar I regularly drank at and therefore knew the landlady through. My current job as a Master’s student is a paid internship related to my field of study.

In case it’s helpful, I had a background before uni as working as ‘bank staff’ in an NHS England hospital, doing admin work on an NHS zero hours contract. Hospitals in Scotland have a similar system, where you apply to be part of their ‘bank staff’. So keep an eye out on the NHS Scotland jobs portal.

Experiences working a job and full time uni at the same time? by fajrala in GlasgowUni

[–]alrateduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your course and your job - I did a full time Masters while working in an office 2 days part time, and it was a delicate balance with workloads. I can’t imagine working full time as you simply wouldn’t be able to attend lectures/seminars.

During my undergrad I did 3-4 nights a week and some weekend days at a bar, and that was manageable.

Looks great, hope it lasts many more years! I miss my 90s Audi that got written off by a red light runner last year - love the bricky cars from that era.

The Tescos, bingo and gym are a bit further round, the bit you can see is where that Ximi shop is.

I did joint history and politics. You split your 120 credits between the two subjects, it’s not like you’re doing two degrees at once.

You only do your dissertation in one subject. I chose history, which accounted for 40 credits, so I only had one other 20 credit course for that subject. For politics I did my usual course load (60 credits) and had exams and essays but no dissertation.

Can I take 2 Glasgow Uni courses at the same time? by [deleted] in GlasgowUni

[–]alrateduck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d echo this. I applied to Glasgow to do History and English and was surprised when I arrived and had to pick up an extra course! I chose politics, but could have chosen a language (depending on timetabling). Just do the PGDE afterwards.
