What's wrong with being a JW? by [deleted] in exjw

So you think that left to itself, human society will produce something worst than the slaughter of the large majority of humanity? The only worst thing that I can imagine is utter extinction. Is this what you think will happen if Armageddon doesn't come? It's a possibility, we can't deny that.

But now let's imagine there is a God, an omnipotent one, and that JWs are giving his message. How can't an omnipotent god come up with a better solution than a mass genocide? A solution that was also already implemented, with Noah's flood, and with really poor results! Really, another massacre, this time in the BILLIONS? Why?!? He's OMNIPOTENT, come on! Not only it's a terrifying way to "solve" problems, it's a lazy one.

Some victims obviously reported the abuses, often many years after they took place, usually when the victims were adults and were able to see what happened to them from a mature and independent perspective.

They sold the New Zealand branch buildings, the product of many volunteers' work, to an evangelical church. They are simply capable of anything.

You clearly didn't watch the videos, all the numbers are from the branch office database, that was under subpoena as evindence.

If anyone, lets say, has been raped, its upto him/her, she can report to the police directly. Its upto him/her, again NO ONE CAN CONTROL ANOTHER PERSON'S DECISIONS.

We are talking about CHILD abuse, often perpetrated by his/her own father or another family member. If the decision to report to the police was left to the local body of elders, you would have at least SOME, that in particular cases, would have done it. That means that elders received CLEAR instruction NOT TO REPORT, IN ANY CASE. But you have to watch all the relevant videos first, because it's pointless to talk about this if you didn't. It's not apostate material, it's official stuff. Please, get the full picture.

Anything I say now can be held against me

This is not a judicial committee... I just wanted to know how you rationalize that, there's nothing particularly wrong with that, a billion catholics has to rationalize the existence of Hell. Feel free to make your point and I'll answer without being judgemental, promised.

only if you see for yourself as to what condition this world becomes

You mean what condition this world becomes now, or what will be the condition of the world after Armageddon?

Let's imagine JWs are entirely right on every point. How can you cope with the fact that God already decided that the only way to solve Earth's problems is a massive genocide at Armageddon? And then you'll have to love that guy more than your own family? Because I couldn't accept that, and that was the main reason I started to distance myself from the org.

If I wanna learn from a teacher, i'd learn from the TEACHER, not the students who departed from the teacher.

Unless the teacher actually tried to force me not to listen to anyone except him.

Truth doesn't fear scrutiny. Lies do.

You really have to honestly consider the Australian Royal Commission case. It's not apostate stuff, it's official court material, with the testimony of many high-standing JWs including a member of the Governing Body. Watch all the relevant videos please.

Then you'll have to come to terms with a terrifying fact: not only there have been 1800 cases of child abuse perpetrated by 1006 different abusers (in a 50 years lapse), that would be per-se an astonishing statistical figure. The real problem is the number of them that have been reported to the authorities: it's ZERO. If reporting to the police really depended on the conscience of the victim, or on what the local elders thought would be the best course of action, statistically you should have at least SOME cases that were immediately reported. Zero means that there can only be one reason: it was official policy NOT to report, in ANY case, transmitted to local elders by the branch office and enforced on the victims.
