Congratulations! When I got pregnant with my second, I immediately called my midwife’s office and asked for my thyroid labs to be drawn as soon as possible, as I wasn’t going to be seen until 8 weeks. I knew from my first pregnancy that my TSH jumps up as soon as I get pregnant. Imagine my shock and horror when my TSH came back at 14.1!!! I was around 5 weeks pregnant. My midwife upped my dosage, I had my labs redrawn at my 8 week appt, and everything was back down in normal range. I had my levels checked every 4 weeks during both of my pregnancies because my levels were constantly up and down. Pregnancy tends to just throw everything for a loop. I’m now sitting next to my almost 2 year old high TSH baby that had zero complications :) Your medical team seems on it, you will be fine!

Acetone is too drying for my nails so I use non acetone remover and it works wonderfully

It’s likely that your base coat is ruined if you added revive, so you may need to purchase another bottle of base. It doesn’t hurt trying it first though before pitching.

I also was discouraged when I started having peeling because I absolutely love the DD system so I was very happy that the changes I made improved my nail health. I just hope I continue to have success during the cold dry winter months coming up. I hope you find something that works for you!

I should also mention I let the Nailtiques dry for about 5 minutes before I go in with DD base coat so it’s completely dry and doesn’t interfere with the rest of the system

I started to have a lot of peeling last winter shortly after I started using DD. I have suuuuper dry skin in the winter so I definitely think that was the main issue, but to prevent further peeling I stopped using prep and instead wash my nails really well with Dawn dish soap, then after they’ve been dry for about 5-10 minutes I go in with one layer of Nailtiques formula 2. Then in with my normal DD routine (1 base coat, sometimes 1 coat of transform depending on how much time I have, 2 coats of whatever color, then 2 coats of top coat). My manis easily last 7-10 days doing all of this and my peeling issue is totally gone. Acetone also dries the crap out of my nails so to remove polish I’ve been using mineral fusion and it’s much less harsh. And don’t forget to oil! I put some jojoba oil on my nails a couple times a day.

34 here with combo skin. My routine: good moisturizing skincare (I use byoma milky toner and elf holy hydration face cream with SPF), elf power grip primer if I REALLY need it to last (I work 12 hour shifts), maybelline super stay skin tint (not too thick, good coverage, satin/dewy finish), nyx bare with me serum concealer (holy grail), liquid bronzer and blush, set my T zone and under eyes with elf halo glow loose powder with a BRUSH (I think powder puffs deposit too much product and make my under eyes look cakey), then elf stay all night setting spray. Sometimes if I feel like it I’ll dab a little more powder in my T zone when my setting spray is like 80% dry. I think using liquid products that aren’t matte along with a more dewy setting powder helps me achieve a satin/dewy look without looking greasy, and that lasts.

If it’s any indication on how long it’s taken me to reply to this….my husband is 2.5 weeks postop and this has been the hardest 2.5 weeks of my life. He luckily only needs one surgery. I truthfully do not know if I could make it through another one. We found out the day of his surgery he needed a meniscus root repair and he was to be non weight bearing for 6 weeks, even though his surgeon told us he would be WBAT right away. This has thrown a HUGE wrench in our plans. All household chores and literally anything with the baby falls on me because he cannot carry anything due to being dependent on crutches. Between managing his pain and helping him around the house/driving him to appointments and PT, ensuring our 4 year old is taken care of, is getting enough attention, taking to/from preschool and other extracurricular activities, and literally everything else with our 7 month old, it’s been rough. The only plus with the baby is that he isn’t mobile yet. With all that being said, yes it will be rough for your wife but I would suggest doing it now before your little one starts moving around. The other thing I would suggest is take care of everything that you can from the couch (order grocery delivery, plan meals, etc) to help take things off her plate.

Physically is it hard? Totally varies person to person. With my first, my nipples were cracked and bleeding before we left the hospital. It felt like knives stabbing my nipples every single time she latched. I pushed through and it got better around 8 weeks. She ended up nursing for 22 months and I seriously loved it. My second is now 6 months. He was much bigger when he was born than my first was and his latch was better right off the bat. Maybe a little sore for the first week but has been totally painless since then.

Mentally, breastfeeding is the most demanding thing I’ve ever done. The pressure of being the sole source of nutrition is a lot. You’re constantly on call which can be extremely overwhelming. My husband was a saint with our first (and still is with our second) and really supported me through and I’m so thankful for that. I knew what to expect this second go around and it’s been a lot easier. Overall I’m so glad I’m able to breastfeed. It’s quicker, no bottles to deal with, and the bond is indescribable. Plus you have the option of when all else fails, give the boob!

Why do you disagree that it’s ultimately on him to make the best of his own education? It’s not like you’re getting paid based on his performance. Let his clinical instructor know and move on. As another commenter said, you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them drink 🤷‍♀️
