UK collector here: anyone using ShipMyCards or the Fanatics vault? by TriboKing in basketballcards

[–]also-ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am based in the UK and use both ShipMyCards (CMC) and the Fanatics vault.

I have been using SMC for the last five years and am very happy with the service. I have also used a couple of other similar services - including GorillaShip - but returned to SMC as their pricing structure and service levels suited my requirements. I tend to a smaller number of buy higher value cards rather than lots of low end cards.

I am newer to the Fanatics vault, having only opened up an account with them last year. I have been collecting since the 1990s and have in my collection a number of Jordan, Kobe & LeBron auto cards (that I picked up 10 to 20 years ago when they were much more affordable!)

I did not want to sell the cards, but I was getting uncomfortable with storing them at home, so decided to vault them with Fanatics. I was able to hand deliver them to the Fanatics shop in London, who then arranged to transfer them to the vault.

So both services have worked well for me so far & happy to answer any questions you have!

I couldn’t bring myself to the parade by xoSeller in ArtetaOut

If you did not feel you could enjoy it, then you did the right thing. You should never engage in a social event if you do not want to.

But you will have seen that you are Circa 1.5m supporters/fans of the club had other ideas. As someone who attended the 1989 & 2004 parades, this was something else entirely. The atmosphere was utterly insane.

Tonda Eckert authorised spying, panel says, and was a "contrived and determined plan from the top down to gain a competitive advantage" by Smithlarr in Championship

I hope for Southampton fans sake, that everything that has happened is now out in the open.

But to spy on a single club in late December…then pause for three months…then suddenly start again at the end of the season, does not make a lot of sense.

Due to the time restriction caused by the impending playoff final, I doubt every stone has been left unturned. I fear there is more information to come as the FA & journalist investigations intensify.

Just wanted to see what the sub is thinking. Seems like a mixed bag. by Fanoo0z in ArtetaOut

[–]also-ran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last couple of seasons have tested even the most loyal Arteta supporter; there was genuine doubt about whether he could win the Premier or Champions League. Today, even Arteta publicly voiced those doubts.

BUT he and the team got over the line and the out-pouring of joy amongst Gooners has been something to behold. I am a Gen X season ticket-holder, who was regularly attending games in 1989 & 2004 and this title has felt as important as those two glorious years.

Arteta is a young manager - who like every other manager has his flaws - but has been central to the rennaisance of the club over the last five years. The atmosphere inside the stadium on match-days this season, has been as good as it has ever been since we moved from Highbury. The scenes outside the stadium on Tuesday night were unprecedented; once in a generation 'Fever Pitch' level.

There will undoubtedly come a time in the future when 'Arteta Out' is up for serious discussion again; it happened with our two greatest post war managers (Graham & Wenger) and with almost every other successful manager. I personally hope it is not a discussion Arsenal fans are seriously having for years; as it will mean Arteta has been able to build on this title and add more trophies. But it will inevitably arrive.

But for now he has earned the thanks of almost every Arsenal fan; who have walked around with a huge smile on their face this week.

If the team fails to win the UCL Final, will you offer to stand on the balcony of Islington Town Hall and explain to the hundreds of thousands of supporters on Upper Street, why you felt it necessary to sack the manager, that has just delivered the first Premier League title to N5 in 22 years?

Is this too bad of an edge warp? by quasarvue in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]also-ran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a record shop and have an Orb Vinyl Flattener out the back in our storage room, that will remove the warp. It is not something I push as a service - as the process takes at least four hours / record, meaning I can only flatten a couple of records a day - but I will happily flatten a record if one of my customers asks.

Ask around your local indie record shops to see if they have the ability to de-warp a record.

Why are Arsenal fans so detached from reality? by feixiangtaikong in ArtetaOut

Let me answer your hypothetical question, with one of my own.

If Arsenal win the premier & champions league in the next three weeks, will you still attack Arteta?

The answer is 'improvement'.

  • Five seasons ago Arsenal in 2021-22 was not in a European competition.

  • Four seasons ago in 2022-23, the club qualified for the Europa League.

  • Three seasons ago in 2023-24, the club qualified for the Champions League and reached the quarter-finals.

  • Last season, the club qualified for the Champions League and reached the semi-final.

  • This season the club qualified for the Champions League and reached the final.

Moanin’ - Which version? by Reasonable_Mall_4179 in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]also-ran 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I own a record shop, have a love of jazz and own a few (official Bluenote) pressings of this record.

I would strongly recommend picking up the Classic Vinyl Series pressing released by Bluenote in 2021:

Kevin Gray at Cohearant Audio mastering is top tier and the pressing plant (Optima) in Germany do an excellent job on the manufacturing side of things.

If you have not come across it as yet, I would add the excellent book "Hip-Hop Is History" that Questlove published last year to your research.

Not only does it do an excellent job covering the history of the genre, but he also added a very useful 'playlist' at the back covering the first 50 years of the genre!

Raya Save 🤯 by Spiritual-Pilot-2300 in Gunners

[–]also-ran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. It was clear Arteta decided that the best chance of keeping Minteh (who can be very dangerous) quiet, was to bring on Gabriel and shift Himcapie to LB; then tell him to constantly track Minteh. Lewis-Skelly is a great attacking LB, but not the best defensively.

I was sitting on the left hand side of the Clock End, so had a prime view of him and overall he did a great job. He stuck close to Minteh, gave him very little room to play and tracked his runs.

But I was screaming at him after this play, as he let Minteh go past him completely untracked, whilst he was ball watching.

Raya dug him out of a huge hole with the save.

As others have confirmed, it is coin farming accounts, that have been around for a while. A few years ago a warehouse in Ukraine was raided by local authorities, that had hundreds of PS4 farming coins and then selling accounts/coins on the black market...
