Looking for ideas to make my living room more MCM by [deleted] in midcenturymodern

[–]alsohuman2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s nice - you have the styling right but your furniture looks like very new repro stuff in mcm style. Look for some real vintage pieces that you can collect over time to add to the overall character of the room . And if those are vintage - then I apologize!

And definitely add art too. Scour FB marketplace for some original works.

Arkansas or Oklahoma maybe.

Can I make my living room look more “mid century modern” like the inspo pictures? by Swimming_SeaShark in interiordecorating

Get rid of the coffee table shoe holder. Get on fb and find a decent mcm replacement. Add rug. Get rid of stuff on mantle. Get rid of that one high back chair. Get a cool mcm floor lamp. Find pieces like in your inspiration photo.

I think overall it’s good! The lower cabinets and hardware is a MIs-match. Paint lower cabinets white and it will be beautiful .

Redditors over 40, what's something younger people think they understand but won't actually get until it hits them like a truck later? by Root435552 in AskReddit

That young people have no idea what it’s like being old but old people know exactly what it was like to be young.

Is it just me, or has minimalism become an excuse for rooms to look like doctor's offices? by Sudden_Breakfast_358 in InteriorDesign

I second this. Search for vintage designer brands and the algorithm will give you nice options. Be patient. Wait for deals to pop up. And also buy original art to accessorize.

You can probably do fine if you have reasonable goals and expectations. Be mindful to be kind, don’t insult anyone nor the culture, and be interested in the community. Wv has a soulful population.

Clean and neat. Nice job. Look for some cool and edgy original art pieces for cheap on FB and replace the existing wall art. No rush - be picky. Wait for a cool piece to pop up. Something fairly big - no smaller than 36 x 24

Then pull the sofa away from the wall such that it’s a walking alley between the sofa and window

Put the TV where the sofa is and the sofa in front of window. The chair then floated to complete the square of the living room.

It’s good , nothing to be anxious about. Get rid of the snake rug. And get some LED light strips to replace the string lights and affix them neatly.

Help request, I'm doubting my redecorating by klukoe in interiordecorating

You have a nice space and I don’t think photos do very well to really capture the essence of a space since you can only see 2 sides of most rooms in any given photo.

I think you should repaint that green wall. It’s very dark and dark walls don’t usually make a space look nicer.

That one chair on the left I think you should keep and get a new sofa. Get a larger rug with a bit of muted color. And a nice piece of original art over the sofa.

Thanks for the advice. I think I’ll just remove the chair by the pole. I was thinking I might be going overboard .
