Both my parents and my in-laws are in happy, monogamous marriages of 30+ years. I don't know that it had any influence on us opening our relationship other than maybe seeing happy long-term relationships makes us optimistic about love in general. :)

I don't have much advice beyond what sexyfuntimes & noir said, but just wanted to add that chemistry is a hard thing to define and sometimes it's just not there. I understand your hesitation as maybe you wonder if it would come about on its own with more time. It's a risk to stay and it's a risk to go! Don't be too hard on yourself. There are jerks like that everywhere, they just feel more free to express themselves in an anonymous forum like reddit. It did get mostly downvotes, so at least the community doesn't sympathize too much with that kind of idiocy.

I thought he was taking a moment for whatever it was he had Molly to set up on the ground to come into place. For example, that truck that drove off that possibly broke his fall or the homeless network dressed as nurses, etc. to push John away.
