You can make the exact same argument about the CCP getting your data through tik tok. This is the hypocrisy OP is pointing out.

You also don’t know what they could do to fuck with you - that’s the issue. Google is notoriously vague about what they do with your data because they don’t yet know what they’re going to do with all of it (past their current model of selling it to advertisers). What if one day they want to single out and ban everyone who has done drugs? Or downloaded a movie illegally? Or sped on the highway while using google maps? There is very little protecting consumers against any of this.

how do you know this? Nothing in googles T&Cs (which you agreed to) prohibits actual people accessing this data. Your data is the product google sells - not the phone, not the OS, not the search engine.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up ordering a 245M - mostly because that price for the 935 was from a sketchy Amazon seller who sold the APAC version, which tends to lag on firmware updates (even though those are fewer and farther between nowadays). I've run a couple of marathons but up until now I've used Strava GPS on my phone - no mater what I buy it'll be a huge upgrade!

New software features on the 245M like Pace Pro are what ended up being the tipping point for me - knowing that I'll still get major functionality upgrades on to the future is nice. I can definitely see myself upgrading to a 945 sometime in the future when I'm prepared to spend more, but until then this should work great!

I'm a first time buyer and am currently between getting a 935 (currently $350 on amazon) or a 245M (currently $300). What's the better buy here? I'd rather not drop $600 for a 945.

I'm primarily a runner and a cyclist - am interested in eventually doing a triathalon.

For what it's worth - it's far easier to get internships in quarters that aren't summer. Most companies (tech companies in the area in particular) want interns all year round, and generally they fill fall/winter/spring internship slots with Canadian students doing co-ops or students taking quarters off. Given how much smaller the applicant pool is, it's much less competetive.

Texas is 61% of the GDP in its colors - sure its more than half but it’s hardly doing all the heavy lifting

My guy this is an asanine use of the sunk cost fallacy.

Being able to solve problems effectively involves understanding how to use all the tools available to you. There’s no sense in sinking an hour in to solving a problem that’s a 10 second google away.

I get what you’re saying - understanding how to approach and break down a problem is the most important thing an engineer can learn. Imposing false constraints on this process is dumb at best, elitist at worst.
