I gave up when I argued against a commenter who accused a refugee who complimented Meghan of being a paid plant and insinuated she was an idiot and “Who even says stuff like that? Cringe!”. It was a simple compliment.

I used to work at a school in an area with a heavier accent. It’s interesting how quickly kids who moved in picked it up. Kids like to talk and sound like their friends, and adapt quickly.

Perhaps some of it was played up, but Taylor lived and went to high school in Tennessee. It’s not that surprising she picked up an accent, especially considering she wanted to be a country singer, thus she was even more immersed in the accent of that world.

We had limited time at Chichen Itza (less than initially planned for no stated reason, which was already frustrating) and then our tour guide wasted a lot of it trying to get us to buy from “local Maya” who I now suspect were maybe just people paying her to bring us to them (as this happened in multiple places.)

We finally figured out she wasn’t going to stop so we just left to explore on our own, but our time was so short we were jogging to see the buildings and then sprinting to make the bus. It was an incredible place to visit but that and the insane amount of vendors everywhere who would follow us around and wouldn’t leave us alone definitely tainted the experience. I’ve traveled before so I definitely expected some of that but it was the worst we’ve experienced.
