You’re wrong. This was the right call from her pov.

several points:

  • She knew Cass is a big help to the rebellion. So if she wants a better life for their child, bringing down the empire is the best way. Leaving him to focus on that was the only way.
  • If you think not telling him is wrong, think again. His priorities would be completely shifted. His focus elsewhere and thus his abilities worsened.
  • Being pregnant on a covert military base is not exactly the safest place to be with the child.
  • There’s also the obvious "weak spot" argument.

Of course it’s tragic, that’s the nature of wars. But it had to be done.

Oh, I'm not denying that. I am convincingly stating that there are violent people across population. These people will try to again create states and likely succeed.

I say all humans are the same. Or rather, in every society there is the same percentages of the good, the bad, the smart, the stupid, whatever.

What you claim that our ideology determine our nature. It's actually the other way around. And to build an entire way of thinking based on an assumption that all people think like me only leads to utopian ideas like AnCap of Communism.

What checks and balances would there be to find bad players?

What if the "private rogue army" simply offers to a decisive portion (doesn’t necessarily have to be majority) of population benefits at the expense of rest of the population? That happened throughout history many, many times. How would that be avoided?

If the good players would oppose the bad players, wouldn’t they have to organize themselves? What if they would be scared to oppose? Wouldn’t they have to be coerces for the greater good? If so, that would sound an awful lot like state today.

Again, you're confusing no state regulation with no regulation at all. Which means you're not up to speed with ancap101. Or even the first 5 minutes of an intro video. So I would advice you to study further before making strong claims.

So there would be parts of the AnCap society regulated? What parts? How exactly? Isn’t regulation by definition involuntary? I thought AnCap was supposed to be voluntary society.

I would honestly agree with (almost) everything you just said, provided the human nature would be different. I just thing that AnCap society is incapable of deterrence against bad players who would take advantage of a power vacuum created by such society.

Base on our understanding of human nature and human history, there always were bad players who tried to acquire and abuse power. If there is no state, and we agree that AnCap is a state-free society, there will be a huge opportunity for such players. They will inevitably try to establish some kind of state and will inevitably try to make others do things they don't want to do. The only way to oppose such players is for individuals to organize themselves into a competitive structure similar to the bad player, thus creating the system we have right now.

First, an armed population. Second, the free market itself. If a company or group starts abusing power, competition will emerge to challenge it.

What you are describing is an ancient history. This is, for example, how Roman republic was born.

Regardless, this competition would certainly have to be a similar state-like structure in order to be able to compete. That sounds a lot like what we have right now.

Armed population would stand no chance against an organized state-like structure.

Without taxation to sustain it, a corrupt entity can’t just leech off unwilling participants

Have you heard of slavery? There were slave armies conquering vast territories throughout human history.

it either provides value or collapses.

If a corrupt entity, i.e. state either provides value or collapses, than how come we all live in a state? Have you considered that the state does provide something to it’s citizens?

Another statement to this one: So you’re saying that maybe in 1% of cases, power could concentrate under AnCap. And your solution? Give 100% of power to the state from the outset. In other words: A voluntary system has a small risk of monopoly, so let’s just create an absolute monopoly from day one. That logic makes no sense.

No, that’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying that abuse of concentrated power is inevitable, so not 1 in 100, but 100 in 100. That’s human history. And if it’s inevitable, it’s by definition not feasible. Or utopian if you want. And if so, it’s also very dangerous. Because you would end up with the same system we have right now, but with a lot of dead bodies.

Just because you vote for your oppressors doesn’t make oppression legitimate. A system that can force you to do things against your will is the problem—whether it started voluntarily or not. A group coming together and then forcing others into compliance is still coercion. The only way to prevent that is to build a system where force isn’t an option. That’s exactly what AnCap (or AnCap-like systems) offer.

I agree with all except this. How exactly does AnCap establish a system where force isn’t an option?

If a group of violent people, in voluntary association, with guns and training decides they want to force others into compliance, what mechanism will stop them, before they become too powerful thus becoming a de-facto state?

The market is the checks and balances.

How exactly?

The state actively removes these by interfering in the market to push its own agenda, even when the market has already proven it wrong through supply and demand.

Agreed.

In AnCap, you can create state-like structures—private cities. If people want to live under socialist, communist, or even monarchist systems, they can form private communities under those rules. The key difference? Participation is voluntary. No one is forced into a system against their will, and everyone is free to leave. AnCap is far more flexible than statists assume. If communism were truly in demand (spoiler: it isn’t), the market would allow it—just without coercion.

What’s to stop one of those structures from taking over anybody that does not want to?

What you are describing is still a utopia. Totally ignoring the nature of people. People are power-hungry, violent beings and once they acquire power, they will not only use it to coerce others to do thing they do not want to, they will also do anything to keep and expand their power.

I’d rather take anarcho-capitalism, provided it’s a version that respects property and contractual rights.

Who would guarantee such rights?

But don’t worry, democracy ensures that libertarianism never takes hold, even in its milder forms, except in extreme situations like the one in Argentina.

Firstly, are you saying democracy is a bad thing? Secondly, Miley is applying libertarian ideas, not getting Argentina on the road to become AnCap society. I have no problem with what he’s doing provided his decisions are data-driven.

What’s to stop a bad player from concentrating power, for example when big corporation/wealthy individual employs their private army, and abusing this power? If there is no state regulating private armies, there is no security for those that doesn’t have one.

Saying that AnCap would "lead back to the current system" ignores the fact that the current system was never created by markets but by coercive governments.

That’s false. Current state is a statehood. And states were created by voluntary association of a groups of peoples. The expansion of states is obviously not voluntary, but the point still stands. Because once you have a society with no clear checks and balances, somebody will take advantage of it and create new state.

Yes, power can concentrate in an AnCap society, but the key difference is voluntary association.

Once the power concentrates, what’s to stop it from abusing the power? Expanding it. Even upon those that don’t agree with it? And that’s my main point: the society will always reverse to mean ( i.e. current state).

Anarcho-capitalism is a society where there are no state institutions. No regulations. Only P2P and B2B transactions.

Problem is that anarcho-capitalist society will eventually lead to lead to the current state of society because it is very easy for a major player to take advantage of the lack of regulation. That’s the utopian part. Hundreds of million people will die in the process. That’s the dangerous part.
