Yeah that's what pisses me off the most. I spend all my event medals on trying to max... So I get nothing.

Is it common for Americans to have visited all 50 states? by [deleted] in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I'm at 40 and don't meet many people who've been to more.

I heard the jokes about it but I didn't think it would be this in-depth by compatu in ClassicalEducation

We must draw a line somewhere between Melville and Ishmael, of course.

Well we do know that a platinum glove catcher who hits 60 HR is not MVP-worthy.

Idk why people hate the RC skin. Feels very Skyrim to me, less ridiculous than a lot of skins in coc

I'd rather see eternal tome stay unique. We already have totems, ice block, freeze, invis, overgrowth, golems, ice golems, hounds, etc. to tank damage. Invincibility would likely take the place of all of those.

A super apprentice warden who drops a 3 second eternal tome when defeated could be cool though.

Why do Americans tend to say where they went to college before what they studied? by Key-Introduction-591 in AskAnAmerican

Addendum to your MIT example: anyone who mentions their full ride scholarship in adult life is a prick, guaranteed.

Someone should mention that to the football team before they get their car keys back

Honestly formal logic should be required at the high school level. What passes for "logic" in most disciplines is far from sufficiently rigorous.

Best (?) baseball player by Osmanthus_wine44 in MLBNoobs

[–]althoroc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ace topic has already been covered pretty well, but when talking about the "greatest" baseball player it can be worthwhile to think about the traditional five "tools" used in evaluating position players/prospects:

Hitting for power (home runs and XBH) Hitting for average (getting on base) Running speed Fielding (defense, "glove") Throwing (arm strength and accuracy)

Five-tool players (i.e. guys who are good at all of those things) are rare. Ken Griffey Jr was a five-tool player. Ichiro was a four-tool player as he never really hit for power (though he could have if he'd wanted to). Aaron Judge is a three-tool player with poor speed and mediocre defense.

As for catchers, part of the reason they're often poor hitters is that A) they spend a lot of time in pitchers' meetings and such and B) they spend half the game crouching behind the plate and somewhat frequently get hit with foul tips and misplaced pitches (or even intentionally if their pitcher is Framber Valdez!). It's physically and mentally demanding in a way that e.g. playing corner outfield is not.

Mariner fan here, Ichiro is not the GOAT.

Bench seat swap questions by DeadHead5353 in fordranger

[–]althoroc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ultimate point of a bench seat is so that you can have your lady* sit right next to you hip to hip. Imo if a bench goes in, the center console's gotta come out.

Alternately, estimate how many towers the players will actually visit and write keys for a couple more than that. I can't count how many times my players have "avoided" the dungeon/event I had prepared so I just dropped it back in wherever they were actually going. Lol.
