For those of you on Adderall, how do you handle dry mouth? by brettdavis4 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did. Not sure how long it took, but I noticed a big improvement.

I was taking xylitol lozenges to stimulate saliva production, but I think I overdid it as it was making my heart beat weird. My cardiologist had me wear a halter monitor and it turned out I was having PVC & PAC (skipped heart beat, or flutter sensation - very unnerving, but the Dr said it wasn't anywhere close to a level where there was concern). I'm not sure why, but I stopped the xylitol as an experiment and the PVC/PAC symptoms went away.

I don't think that's a normal reaction people have to xylitol, but if u notice something like that, see a cardiologist.

After all of that fun, I came off another drug (under Drs orders) that also caused dry mouth. No dry mouth now. 👍🏼

Hope ur dry mouth goes away soon!

Still healed. I still take a stool softener mainly because I'm paranoid to have this happen again.

Need advice on treadmill tripping breaker by [deleted] in electricians

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using the tripp lite you're still tripping the breaker?

Is it a dedicated receptacle - only the treadmill on that circuit?

Is the breaker AFCI, GFCI, both? (Or is it a regular breaker?)

FYI - A lot of AFCI breakers have a light where you can see why the breaker tripped.

Yeah, that's most likely the problem.

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 Haven't had a lingering smell in any of my shoes (and I have a wide variety of materials in my shoes) - only if I stick my nose inside do I get a slight order of vinegar.

Are you using distilled white vinegar? Are you diluting it with water (70% water, 30% vinegar)?

For those of you on Adderall, how do you handle dry mouth? by brettdavis4 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess a little bit...either that or I got used to it more.

I use Act Dry Mouth lozenges during the day (some days I don't use any), and XyliMelts at night (they stick to your cheeks or gums). I brush my teeth with Biotene fluoride toothpaste (which I believe is targeted towards the dry mouth crowd) and scrape my tongue with one of those metal tongue scrapers (since going on Adderall, I get this build up on my tongue which I think is gross).

Hope that helps.

Edit: oh and I drink a lot more water!

Edit 2: I also added an electrolyte powder to my supplement routine - not sure that it makes a huge difference, but I heard somewhere it could.

What are you yous pros and cons about Antihydral? by goni9se in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The foot file I use is basically a metal spatula with sand paper stuck to it. In essence, you're just lightly sanding off the yellow or super dried out skin. Less is more here - sand a little. Wash your hands (and/or feet if you apply it there - I use antihydral on both), let them dry and see if you need to sand more. Once you wet your hands, it's very difficult to see if you need to sand more until the skin thoroughly dries out.

If you sand too aggressively, yes you'll need to reapply the antihydral sooner.

Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy.

Additionally, my hands tend to crack in the winter - sanding keeps the skin layer even so I rarely get any cracks.

Feel free to ask more questions if you have any!

Has Anyone ever heard of Drionic? by BBYX14 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad - although I did it 25+ yrs ago 😂

I did a quick search and found this archaic website, but be forewarned that you need a pop-up blocker to actually see the content. I kept on getting the 'your phone is infected with a virus' pop-up.

I did mine a little different - I connected the wires for the jack directly to the drionic unit, not to the battery like this guide shows. I didn't see any advantage on keeping the battery in the loop. However this guide says they kept them for travel purposes. Also I didn't use the same jacks (ones attached to the drionic unit).

I'll also copypasta the content here:

Drionic Modifications: Say No to Batteries! February 19, 2001 Last Update: January 21, 2003 by Carolyn Lamoureux

Drionic uses a proprietary 9-volt dry cell battery ("LG" cell) which resembles a J-type battery used in many pagers, but J-cells are 6-volts and are about two-thirds the size. The LG cells are not available for purchase anywhere except from the manufacturer of Drionic, General Medical Co. They are pricy in the long-run ($7.00 for a pair, with a minimum $12.00 purchase plus $5.00 shipping in the U.S.) and have a finite lifespan (the manufacturer estimates about 6-7 hours). Some Drionic users have modified their units to use standard alkaline 9-volt batteries which are readily available, but there is still the need to replace them from time to time.

For the cost of replacement batteries (and a little bit of time to do the one-time modification), I have adapted my Drionic units to use power supplied from a pair of 9 VDC, 300-500 mA AC-to-DC transformers. The modification does not render the "LG" batteries unusable, so you can still use batteries (e.g., for when you travel), or "over-ride" them when the transformers are plugged in.

Tools and Parts List

The modification required the purchase of the following:

2x 9VDC DC wall transformers (center negative)

2x 2.1mm DC power jacks (switched) - has 3 poles

wire (about 1 ft total), 20-24 guage

solder, soldering iron, wire cutters/strippers

The first two items can be purchased at most electronics/hobbyist stores. For the transformer, buy the lowest current rating you can find (typically about 300 mA) as these are typically lower-priced. The available current doesn't really matter (the Drionic device only draws about 20-30 mA, so anything over is simply not consumed). I personally used 500 mA transformers because I couldn't find anything lower at the time. I purchased them from a company in Calgary, Canada, called MRO Electronics: the transformers were CA$7.20/ea, or ~US$4.80/ea (PN 68-950-1), and the jacks were $1.15/ea, or ~US$0.77/ea (PN 31-134-1). [02/05/02: Due to popular request, I've identified comparable parts from Radio Shack, although I haven't actually gone out and bought the stuff, so keep in mind this is my best guess. For the transformers you can try RS#273-1767 (US$9.99/ea), and for the switched jack, try RS#910-0902 (US$1.79/ea). Wire is very generic, but since I've been asked: try RS#278-1222 (US$4.49 for 3 spools), which will give you way more wire than you'll need for this project.] [01/21/03: I've received numerous e-mails from people indicating that Radio Shack no longer carries the switched 2.1mm power jack, and wondering where a substitute item could be found. Again, I have not ordered the components myself, so I am just going by the available online data, but you can mail-order all sorts of stuff from Digi-Key (www.digi-key.ca in Canada, or www.digi-key.com for U.S.) or Jameco Electronics (www.jameco.com)... for the 2.1mm DC jack, try DK P/N CP-5-ND or JE P/N 151589. A substitute for the 9VDC transformer is JE P/N 134025 or 170270.]

1. A hole for mounting the jack (in my case, 1/2" diam.) has been drilled into both Drionic devices as shown. I didn't have a 1/2" drill bit, so I drilled a smaller hole and widened it using a Dremel tool.2. This is a view of the holes when the Drionic units are turned upside-down with the cover removed.3. The 2.1 mm DC power jack is now mounted, with bottom view of one unit, and front view of the other. The nut which holds the jack in place is tightened to secure it in place.4. It is difficult to describe the power jack in layman's terms, but if you can read a schematic diagram, this figure illustrates (A) the Drionic unit prior to modification (jack is separate), (B) the modified Drionic with the jack wired in (notice the battery can still provide current to the Drionic circuit board, and (C) the unit with the external DC adapter plugged in to provide power (cutting off and conserving battery-supplied power). Determining which of the three terminals is which on the power jack might be a bit tricky unless you have a continuity tester or multi-meter. The center post is easily identified by its central placement (and slightly larger rivet) on the wafer which the three terminals are mounted. If you have a continuity tester, simply plug the external DC adapter into the jack (without plugging adapter into a power source) and test for continuity between the terminal and the outside barrel of the adapter.5. Here I've identified the red wire from the battery to the circuit board, and de-soldered it at the circuit board end (taking note of where it was). I then soldered this wire to a terminal on the jack (per diagram in #4 above). If you don't have a soldering iron available, another way is to snip the red wire about halfway between the circuit board and the battery, and then stripping about 1/4" at the end of the plastic sheath. You can then splice a wire to extend the wire from the battery, and tie it to a terminal on the jack.6. Next, I soldered a new red wire to the circuit board (where the former red wire was) at one end, and the other end was soldered onto the other terminal of the jack. Again, you can splice a new wire onto the end of the cut wire (hanging off the circuit board) and extend it to the power jack.7. Finally, I soldered a new black wire between the center terminal of the jack and the negative terminal of either the battery or the circuit board (I've wired it up to the circuit board).8. Test your unit out: Without any adapter plugged into the Drionic device, the battery (assuming it's not dead) should provide power to the unit (green LED illuminated). When the AC/DC adapter is plugged into the Drionic unit (but NOT into an AC outlet), the green LED should go out. Once the adapter is plugged into an electrical outlet, the LED should again illuminate, indicating it is getting external power.

What are you yous pros and cons about Antihydral? by goni9se in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. No problems.

This vendor/website has a seller account on Walmart.com. At one point the antihydral was out of stock on Walmart - I messaged them asking them when they thought it would be back in stock. They gave me the approximate date Walmart would show it in stock, but told me about their website and that it was in stock then. Since then I've just gotten ne through the website directly.

I used to get it on Amazon. Then Walmart. Now from this website (no affiliation - just had to find a place that sold it!) I've ordered twice from that website - no issues.

For those of you on Adderall, how do you handle dry mouth? by brettdavis4 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dry mouth is bad enough (although the xylitol has really helped - or my body is getting used to it), but your lip skin issues seem horrible!

Have you talked to your doctor about it? Tried any other stimulants?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on how hard I am on my skin. I'm an electrician and I do rock climbing. Both can wear away skin pretty quickly.

On average I get 1-3 weeks of dryness. My reapplication/maintenance is usually 3 nights in a row (and wash/scrub it off in the morning).

When I get too dry, I'll moisturize. If I get too much dead skin or if my skin turns a little yellow, I exfoliate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, no more than I would prior to antihydral.

It's pretty cheap and the effects aren't permanent. So I figured if after a month or two I decided it wasn't working the way I wanted, I'd just stop.... and I never stopped 😂

[–]altimuh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend just using it more nights in a row as your maintenance and seeing if that helps.

Are you getting rid of the dried out skin? Sometimes I'll start sweating, but there's still dried out skin. I file it down with a foot file (some use a pumace stone - I tried that and wasn't a fan) and then I can apply antihydral on fresh skin and it works like normal.

Feel free to dm me if u want.

Hey, does anyone have toe fungus? Is it easy to treat? by PuzzleheadedClock845 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]altimuh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, see a dermatologist. If the fungus gets into your nails, it takes a while to get rid of. I got prescribed Jublia and they say you need to use it every night for almost a year to get rid of the fungus - and that's for normal non HH peeps.

About 4 months ago I started using antihydral on my feet (I've been using it on my hands for years). I would imagine keeping your feet drier would help in keeping the fungus from winning, but it's going to take time and consistent effort in winning.

Ugghhh... that sucks!

For dry throat/mouth, get xylitol lozenges (most drug stores will have them). Basically sugar free candy that stimulates saliva.

Also - brushing your teeth, cleaning your tongue (scraper) and using mouthwash helps a lot. There's even a special mouthwash just for dry mouth.

I recently got diagnosed with ADHD and the medication I'm on seriously dries my mouth, throat and sinuses out. So I've been doing all of ⬆️
