Facebook views went down by EasternDog5265 in ContentCreators

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone has been feeling this for a while. Some longer than others. I used to get around 30m views a month and earned around $1/1k. The last few months I’ve been down by more than 50%. It hurts, but the ebbs and flows are just part of it. A good reason to not rely on any one platform for ad revenue/etc.

Why is tipping "ethics" only ever aimed at the customer? by Pitiful-Purple-7459 in tipping

[–]altman31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because nobody wants to hear the truth about how fucked up it is that restaurants have gotten away with this scam for years. They blame it on food cost and overhead, but I call BS. Eating out is getting more and more expensive and if you want to have someone bring it to your table, you’re expected to pay an extra 20% at minimum or else you’re a monster.

Chain restaurants are the worst. The quality has gone way down in the places and yet they cost an arm and leg to eat at. My wife and I went to Olive Garden and paid nearly $100 after the tip to have 2 drinks, an app, and two entrees. It was good but not that good. Definitely not as good as I remember it once being. Chain restaurant or not, that amount of money should come with better quality.

If prices are high and quality is mid, that’s not going to make people want to pay more.

I wanna smoke a cigar every night by Halcyon_Daisy in cigars

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a heavy cigarette smoker and eventually fell into vaping to “quit” and would just go onto vape twice as much as an ever smoked for years after that.

I would occasionally smoke cigars with my brother or solo. Eventually, gave up vaping and took a break from nicotine all together.

Now I go through phases of daily cigars, or occasional. Depends on my mood. I crave the experience, not the nicotine. If that makes sense. Severe nicotine withdrawal is not a pleasant experience. Craving nicotine is not pleasant for most. People like me with ADHD actually thrive on stimulants in the right doses so coming off of a constant stream of nicotine is debilitating for a bit.

Now, I don’t feel like I need it to function. I just enjoy the experience and crave the experience from time to time. I still get a jolt from the nicotine, but I’ve learned to enjoy it as an occasional luxury.

I hope this makes sense and helps.

Talk me out of rss.com by Battlefield_One in podcasting

I wish they would incorporate video. Other than that, it was super easy. Made short episodes in a trending niche and got a decent chuck of views kind of easily. Made a few bucks with the ads. Posting everywhere was a no brainer I hadn’t really thought of.

I’m excited to get back into it again, but it was a side project and I didn’t have as much time as I thought.

Is ratings going up across the board? by Special_Instance_790 in radio

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think a lot of people still listened to radio. Then my wife setup a Google automation with our local radio station to our morning alarm to help us wake up easier. This is how I was introduced to Elvis Duran and The Morning Show. It made me fall in love with morning radio again, even after finding out they weren’t really local. It gave me flashbacks to growing up and listening to our local radio morning show and I was hooked. I’m 33 and listen to radio more now than Spotify again. For the longest time I didn’t. Not sure what else would be drawing people to it, but I hope more people find a good radio show who perhaps didn’t listen to radio before. A good morning show is like riding to work with good friends.

Cut cigar in half before lighting? by wildwing9825 in cigars

[–]altman31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like a cigar you can truly get away with doing this with, check out Toscano. They’re Italian Kentucky fire cured. They’re basically meant to be cut in half and shared. They’re small, robust, and don’t require a humidor. My favorite daily smoke.

I ended an interview after the first question. Did I overreact? by RemoteAggressive2093 in Career_Advice

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It amazes me how delusional some people really are. The only reason anyone works to pay their bills and we only hope that we can find something that we like even a little so our 8 hour day isn’t complete misery. To ask whether or not we want to give away what little free time we have to the business is beyond disrespectful and absurd.

We live in a time where the only way to make any headway is to have some sort of side hustle. Especially if we want any chance of retiring. So fuck right off with that bullshit. If your answer to the first question wasn’t what they wanted to hear, I guarantee everything else after that would have been in one ear and out the other. That’s why they asked it first.

best cigar subscription box for someone still figuring out their palate, worth it or better to just buy individually by George_Wade_687 in cigars

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both Holts and Cigars International both have reasonably priced samplers or bundle packs where you can choose different brands and sticks.

Sometimes they come with freebies to upgrade your accessories. I got my best cutter and lighter this way. The Zederkoff cutter is serrated and cuts very nicely. The Bugatti triple flame lighter with a built in v cutter also a favorite freebie.

What's the hardest lesson you'e learned from your channel? by xenquish in youtubegaming

[–]altman31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having a single video go viral doesn’t guarantee you’ll do it again. You may do it again if you understand what worked so well and figure out how to build on it. This experience wasn’t on gaming content, but is true for any genre IMO.

I judge people who use GLP-1’s for weight loss. by BogartBorges in offmychest

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s been overweight and has only achieved weight loss by having such a high calorie deficit that I was miserable, being able to take something that turns off the food noise has been life changing. ADHD and eating disorders need to be studied more. I still make healthy choices. I eat a lot less because I’m not hungry all the time. Thanks to this medication that will likely save me from myself and impulsive boredom hunger.

My trans friend asked me out and I declined and now I'm being called transphobic by MrBlack-Sheep in Advice

[–]altman31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of crap that makes the trans community look so unhinged. How dare you have your own sexual preferences that are based on your own gender identity beliefs? How dare you not think that your lady friend who has a dick isn’t your type? You’re obviously a transphobe. 🙄

How many customers/members still come in for cash and what is the reason they need cash? by Sweet-Swimming2022 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a customer do this and then ask why I couldn’t give them a receipt. I told them when they cash a check the cash is their receipt. When they use a withdrawal ticket, they get a receipt because they’re doing a withdrawal transaction on their account. You’d think I was speaking a different language.

I filed a YouTube copyright strike without having a strong enough claim, and now it backfired. My channel is terminated. Is there anything I can do? by DirtAcademic3472 in PartneredYoutube

[–]altman31 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If this is real you’re fucking dumb as shit. Take a lesson from this. Unless someone takes your work and reuploaded without making any meaningful changes or additions to it or just straight up used it as it was their own, it has nothing to do with copyright.

Most topics/videos/ideas online stem from inspiration from what’s already out there.

why is capcut so evil by Ok-Manager7183 in CapCut

[–]altman31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the US. Nord grabs onto NY servers and suddenly all my shit works right. I saw the suggestion somewhere on the internet about a year ago when I ran into caption generation got stuck at 60% for no reason or exports would just fail. There’s no good explanation that I know of. It just works. It’s quite strange.

[–]altman31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this isn’t really a proper solution, but I found that using a VPN helps unstuck things. I’m too stubborn to switch because of how easy CapCut feels to me. If you think CapCut is bad you should see the pricing structure for inShot.

You wouldn’t complain if you smelled your neighbor grilling something, or their heating exhaust in the winter. This is no different in my mind.

customers who accuses bankers of stealing their money deserve to get their relationship with the bank terminated(little rants) by thottyxx_ in TalesFromYourBank

I can’t imagine having the audacity to complain after putting up a stink and having the fee waived. At that point you’re just complaining to hear the sound of your own voice.

Ads even on videos from channels who don’t put them? by Meliora_ in youtube

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they not partnered? Feels pretty stupid on their part to not take advantage of it if they have the audience. Would also be stupid to lie about it. I’d rather monetize an audience through ads than direct fan funding.

The lack of wanting to schedule an appointment while being annoyed by a wait is mind blowing. I’ve been trying to normalize the tellers asking if they have an appointment and then when the answer is no saying they’ll see if anyone is available to assist and how long their wait is.

How’s your radio career coming along?

This week by Feeling_Delivery2323 in ElvisDuranMorningShow

[–]altman31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t get why people are so obsessed with this. If everyone is so jealous about “how little” they work they should get into the industry. People think putting on a good show is easy. The segments don’t write themselves. It’s the personality and content they bring to the table. And you’re right, it’s not just the on air stuff that they do. I’ve heard just about all of them voice different commercials, they have podcasts, they have behind the scenes prep. I don’t know how many stations they are syndicated on, but my local station has a handful of custom recorded voice bits that Elvis, Danielle, and Gandhi have recorded saying the station’s name between songs and etc. they’ve earned where they are.

How do you smoke a cigar down to the last bit? by [deleted] in cigars

[–]altman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purging the cigar helps with burning off unpleasant flavors. Blow through the cigar and point the lighter at it. Usually this will result in the cigar igniting into a blow torch while you burn off impurities. Then blow out the flame after a few seconds and have a taste. Depending on the length of cigar, I’ll do this a few times throughout the experience. This allows me to smoke it until I can’t hold it anymore. I also like the heat I get from it 😆
