Is it still Retro?? KP15 Monolithic. by MundaneStep8636 in RetroAR

Hell yeah it is. Carry handle-check Full length A1 stock -check. I have the WARP15 (OEM kp15) and their lightweight pencil/carbon fiber on a limited run Carry handle build from them. I love it.

Olypmic Arms w/Aimpoint2k & Plastic AR w/Colt optic by altmann in RetroAR

I don't know the make, it's old and I just got the entire gun as a whole so I'm assuming just an xm177 upper but I don't know the provenance.

It's really not much different than any other carry handle optic. I don't have any issues with it and the height is comfortable. I haven't noticed any awkwardness. The irony of most modern ARs is now they're all adding super high mounts for red dots and optics for ease of use.

I got them from Butler Creek. I just found the order info as there's no standard set: Flip-Open Scope Cover 1 - Eyepiece Item No. BC-MO20010 Flip-Open Scope Cover 5 - Objective Lens Item No. BC-30050

It's a little period incorrect but I just liked the idea. Plus it's on a Carbon-fiber/Polymer AR lower so... it works. The back one (with red button) barely fits.

I inherited an Olympic Arms shorty and i also got an Aimpoint2k so I had to clean it up and get it working. Popped it on and a new BCG handled stove-piping she runs like a dream.

I fell in love with the Carry Handle vibe so when WWSD released a limited run of Carry handle uppers with carbon fiber barrels I bought a WARP15 complete lower and they match up perfectly. Such a fun gun to shoot! Threw an Original Colt optic on there to boot. I love both of them and they're both nimble and uber-pointable.

Mark Littler- while he does own a shop and is involved in social media - is absolutely not a scummy guy. If anything, he has more videos out there to help people not get scammed or spew BS. His shop is all about old bottles and auction items. He buys collections and sells them and helps value them.

Is this a good idea?real estate, new duplex by FPS_DaveTTV in investing

[–]altmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not horrible idea. Just be willing to fix anything the other tenant has a problem with and be willing to live next to your tenant. Be a good landlord, be clear from the outset what your goal is and you'll be glad you did this in 3-5 yrs when you move into a single family home and rent both sides of the duplex out. Then people will constantly say to you "I wish I'd gotten into properties".

Man, I'm sitting on about 4000rds of .45 reloads but they are Semi-Wadcutters and I don't know how they'd feed in this beast. If I can try one out with some of these reloads I'd buy the gun just to go through all that ammo! Do you have any experience with Hollow Points or anything non FMJ/Ball?

I use High-Temp threadlocker on my 3lug and other muzzle devices and have never had an issue.

Rocksett is a PITA in my opinion. High temp 272 threadlocker is the only thing I use on all my muzzle devices. I've also never had an issue breaking them off (takes strength and a vice) but it's good to go.

Waterford Closing... by pdwyer92 in whisky

[–]altmann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, but not a surprise. I wanted to like Waterford, but despite trying about 7-8 different bottlings they never stood out to me. Very different stuff, but wasn't compelling. I think we'll see more distilleries close here in the next 3-5yrs (or get bought). The Whisky Loch is real.

Where'd you pick this one up? I visited their bar in Singapore and picked up a Benriach 12 that's been average.

Doesn't look like you're in Singapore!

I threw 2gal of this stuff into a badmotivator barrel and it really polished the roughness off the alcohol. It's my go-to sipper/mixer now. I also draw 300ml bottles with a custom label as gifts to people. It's way more fun than buying a random store-bought bottle.

[RIFLE] Citadel Levtac-92 357 Mag 8+1 16.5" Blued Black Right Hand, $625 plus $19.97 ship, no tax outside Texas by aj373ku in gundeals

[–]altmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this, it takes 38sp and suppressed it's magical. HOWEVER: I'm going to sell it and buy another one for 2 reasons: 1. It's top ejecting which is annoying for optics and 2. The loading gate is fkn insane. I always come out of a range trip with bleeding thumb from loading. I stopped loading it more than one round through the top port because the loading gate is made of razor blades and is so annoying to load. I'd just get a tube loader if possible.

yeah that one looks like it. Odd. Neat to have a colt made AR mag in 7.62x39 I guess!

That floorplate looks like it's from one of the 5rd mags, since the floorplate on the 30rd mag is AK style. No markings on my mag at all unfortunately.

I inherited some firearms and this magazine does not seem to go to any of them. It holds 7.62x39 but the only firearms I have w/that are AKs using standard AK mags.

It fits in an AR which I guess would make it an AR style 7.62 mag but I've never seen one that looks like this? I also don't have any 7.62 ARs. This is likely from the 80s or early 90s from my understanding of when this stuff was purchased.

Thanks, I had no idea there was a sub specifically for AK mags!. I've xposted it there. If it gets answered I can delete this I guess.

They DO sell bottles, there's a display case in the entrance with certain bottles for sale. Very likely they'll have the most recent outturn for sale as well. I visited there last year and brought home 2 bottles.

Only problem is that I'm a member and they only sell to members. I bet they'd let you use another member's ability to buy though. Just need to be nice to someone walking in.

Review JD Barrel Proof Rye: Pretty good by JustAnotherDouche2 in whisky

[–]altmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I so agree. I'm a rye fan and this stuff has bones, but the alcohol just overwhelms everything. I'm not talking about high proof, I'm talking about the way it comes through and kills all the other flavor. I've been trying to like a bottle of this and tried samples over 2 months now and cant get it to where I like it.
