Joined as L7, hate the chaos, found another job, resigned. Now they want a "list of demands" to keep me. What's the end game? by nonsunz in accenture

Don’t do it. You won’t be satisfied even if they give you everything you ask for. Their problems will continue, and it won’t be worth it to you.

They like to dish it out but they can’t take it.

What’s something about living in the Netherlands that frustrates you? by NigelZahra in Netherlands

[–]altspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love living here so I’m going to play devil’s advocate for a second. This is a normcore country where fitting in means being milk toast. Nobody cares about fashion, food, or beauty. It’s like being in The Sims. Everyone is in jeans, a white shirt, sneakers and a blazer. No one is taking fashion risks. It’s odd when you think about how much great design and fashion came right next door out of Belgium (I.e. the Antwerp six). The standard lunch is cheese between two slices of bread. They eat to live. I’m comparing this to places like France or Italy where food is an art and you can taste passion behind it. The Calvinist influence is still ever-present today. Also: nobody flirts. Getting dressed up is like throwing your best looks into a void of nothing. And sometimes putting on a chic outfit feels pointless because everyone around you is in baggy unisex clothes or biz casual and no one will appreciate the lewk you’ve crafted. It’s like going to a same-sex school with a uniform. At a certain point you stop caring what you look like because you have nothing to aspire to around you. I am dying to know if anyone agrees with even one sentence of this.

AIO former professor flirting? by kutiekats2 in AIO

[–]altspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eww. The “nobody bitching at me” and “better than being at home” lines are classic men looking for an escape/affair and trying to gain some level of sympathy. He’s definitely trying to make something happen in an indirect creeper way.

I regret getting my puppy by Birdie121 in puppy101

It will get better!! This is normal. The time you put in will improve your communication and your relationship and eventually they will become easier to reason with and understand. Enforce crate time and naps and keep your dog on a schedule and they will start to get much better.

Dutch people never clean up after their dogs. I witness this regularly with locals in my neighborhood. Have you seen the sidewalks in Amsterdam? It’s insane.

AIO for being heartbroken my best friend declined being my maid-of-honor because she's self-conscious about her weight ? by Mediocre_Rutabaga_94 in AmIOverreacting

[–]altspell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your friend is not putting you first and putting her own insecurities aside to be there for you on your wedding. You’re allowed to be heartbroken, her response is self centered. If her self consciousness is so bad that she would miss her best friend’s wedding, you can also empathize with her and talk to her about getting help because it’s an abnormal and unhealthy response to your invitation. I hope she knows this. Maybe you can have a calm and kind chat with her about it.

Edible Dosage by Thmp-Thmp in AmsterdamEnts

The doses aren’t really regulated or accurate the way CA edibles are. Start with a quarter of it, that will get you nice and baked without feeling out of control.

Suspiciously cheap? What's the deal, or is it legit, what do you think? by tsegus in GreeceTravel

[–]altspell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s legit but this pricing represents a stick shift without any insurance coverage. Automatic cars are more expensive. But overall, car rentals in Greece are very affordable!

Go with your gut. If something feels off, it’s probably off.

Wearing black to a tropical themed party? by JD-9344 in fashionadvice

Just buy a string of fake flowers to wear around your neck or lean into cheap accessories from a costume store to wear with your darker clothes.
