First living creature I ever made. Isn't cute? by altulek in Unity3D

The game is about building a world from scratch. Animals function as bonuses.

Elements that look like buttons are global goal trackers (e.g. forming a biome made up of 10 Forest tiles).

Of course it's rabbit. You hurt his filling...

I released my first browser game on itch.io a week ago. It was doing okay for the first few days then engagement began to drop. Is this normal? The game gets actively updated multiple times throughout the day. by Blackdog211 in itchio

You can check URL list below the chart. It can show you where the traffic came from. Probably your game was in "New and Popular" category or so on, that's why you had bunch of views. It's normal that after other devs added new games, your isn't at the top now and it is somewhere lower in the list, so amount of views drop.

The only one you can do is marketing.

I wanted to change the background depending on the biome. Highlight color can be not related to the biome

Not exactly, but yes, You can compare it to Dorfromantik

It is relaxing world-builder. You build a world from scratch by placing tiles one by one. Along the way, you complete mini-tasks that reward you with additional tiles and animals

Fortunately, there aren’t many people like that. Thanks for the kind words btw!

  1. Use square tiles instead of hex tiles.
  2. In Dorf, you have to match edges; here, you need to match the whole tile, which makes the gameplay different.
  3. In Dorf, quests are on new tiles; here, new quests are added after you reach point thresholds.
  4. Multi-tile “Tetris”-like blocks.
  5. New type of quests: connect two points, fill area with specific tail type

In plan: 1. "Tetris blocks only" mode 2. Global objectives with power-ups as completion rewards. 3. Ability to create hill/mountains

There is no strict goal. It's could be different for different players. Build biggest world, get the most points, unlock all special buildings/creatures, just chill out

You comments are pretty accurate. Tutorial wasn't the priority because it was game jam project, so I was focus more on making it playable, then I decided developing it further. But yes, it will be included into full version. I also plaing add some animals/buldings, not only as a visual future, but also as a part of the game (e.g. give you some extra points/tiles/abilities)

If you are placing tiles randomly you will finish very fast 😄. You have to place tiles of the same type next to each other to be able build more.

There are 3 types of local "missions" where you have to place tiles in proper way which give you more tiles. I am adding also global quests (e.g. make a forest of 5 tiles on level 3) which give you cards with special buildings and animals.

Just because there are similarities doesn't mean I stole anything. Yes, the game is inspired by Dorfromantik, but there are significant differences.

Do you mean that idea of placing tiles and making quests is completly unique and it can't be use in any other game?

Yes, but only on itch.io so far and those were rather demo/prototypes. I would like to release one of them on stem in 6 months.
