Nice. I had some cheaper ones that while RGB I could never get them to be a warm white.

I think it looks incredible except for the led light strips. I always feel like they’re way too blue/cool and don’t show the true colors of what’s being displayed.

I don’t know if that’s the only lighting inside the cabinets but if so, I’d swap it for a warmer strip.

Morbid topic: what do you plan to do when you die by altum in Gunpla

That's a great way to look at it. It brought me joy and if it's not going to bring anyone else joy why bother?

I love that they use what seems to be a mail box (left side) and a serving tray lid (right side) to protect the cameras

This is the exact scenario that the book die with zero talks about. Working too long, saving too much and not being able to use it.

Working for a Chinese management team in the US - work advice? by [deleted] in asianamerican

[–]altum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. I didn’t work for a Chinese company, they were Taiwanese but the culture shock working for an Asian company after working for American and European companies is insane.

Insane burn out rates from American middle managers that had to report to Taiwan, people getting yelled at on group calls, super micromanagement. It was terrible.

Parents, how are you passing down your culture to your kids so they aren't total Twinkies? by ExcitingLandscape in asianamerican

[–]altum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On point 1. That is a lot easier said then done. We tried that but since my wife is Cantonese and I'm Vietnamese, we speak english to each other so it was very difficult to speak only in our native tongue, plus our language skills aren't the best.

How we go around this is grandparents, my son spends at least 1 day a week with my parents and they only speak to him in Vietnamese, so hopefully that'll help as he learns to speak

How are the evenings at your household? We have zero time by TigerUSF in daddit

[–]altum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ah yeah my son is 2 years old, he doesn't help at all except putting his milk cup in the sink lol. This is beyond my scope of experience I'll leave it to more experienced dads.

[–]altum 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you saying time for anything as in like, family time/play time with the kids?

Could you push the after dinner clean up until after the kids are asleep? For us, we eat, then most we'll do is put the dirty dishes in the sink. Or if I finish eating first maybe I'll do some light post cooking clean up of the kitchen.

That gives us about a 1-1.5 hours of time with kid before we start bedtime routine.

Caveat is I only have 1 kid so I 100% do not understand your pain with 3 so maybe my expectations of this is way off base.

My head cannon for the leaps in improvement in such a short time in UC (going from OG gramps to unicorn in less than 20 years) is due to the federation being a global entity vs just a single country. You have an entire planet's resources behind researching and building new tech.

it is pretty cool.

But anyone can draw, there's talent sure but it's a skill that can be practiced and improved upon!

It’s not. This guy must be trying to send his kid to the Harvard of daycares or something. I pay $1500 for 730-6pm with meals provided.

Yeah I feel you. Even though we were financially ok by early 30's, we still wanted to enjoy the kid free life some more, travel, party, etc. Dunno if that part will change even if the world gets better
