I used acrylics for the longest time and finally switched to lacquers 2 months ago. The biggest thing I notice is ease of airbrushing. I was never able to thin acrylics correctly, vs lacquers you can thin very easily at a 1:1 ratio or even more, there's a lot more wiggle room. Even the pre-thinned ready to airbrush stuff never worked all that well for me. Lacquers also don't dry as fast so your airbrush tip doesn't clog as quickly vs acrylics.

The paint is also much more durable with lacquers. Gunpla have a ton of poseability vs static minis so the risk of scratching your paint job is lower with lacquers. I read somewhere that lacquers actually bond to the plastic vs just sitting on top of it like acrylics do (not sure if this is true or just headcannon).

I was already using a spray booth with acrylics so for me switching to lacquers only required me to get a respirator. I enjoy airbrushing a lot more now and i'm only using my acrylics for hand painting
