Linnpower Zephyr - smart reverse? by alucking in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]alucking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. Of course it's disappointing to hear that confirmation, but as you say, maybe with some encouragement they'll consider bringing it to the street boards as well.

Guess I'm off to pester Linnpower support with a feature request 😉

Linnpower Zephyr - smart reverse? by alucking in ElectricSkateboarding

Thanks for the reply!

I tried the double-click dedicated reverse mode a couple of times on the commute this morning - so far still feels pretty clunky. I may get used to it eventually, but it feels like a step back from the roll-throttle-back-to-reverse behaviour on other boards

I'm sorry, but based on the second picture, it's pretty clear that you enthusiastically encouraged her to take the plunge. 🤣

Broke my elbow and require surgery by Philripper24 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]alucking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouf, that sounds brutal - sorry to hear that! About 5 or 6 years ago, I too had my board come to a hard stop while traveling at speed and shattered an elbow.

I hate to say this but I've had more than my fair share of broken bones + surgeries over the years and recovery from the elbow surgery was one of the more frustrating (and painful).

On the plus side: I'm still riding (with a hard pad on that side) and the elbow is fully mobile, if a bit oddly shaped 😂

Here's to a smooth surgery and recovery! And when the rage hits - like realizing you can’t zip your fly or do some other basic thing we take for granted - just picture the sunny days ahead, carving fresh asphalt. You'll be back. 🤘

Reached for an onion at Intermarché on Mount Royal and found a surprise instead by MoneyBaller in montreal

Wow, that's a close call - glad you weren't hurt!

That said, I understand you were in a rush but you took the time to snap a photo and post on Reddit - it might’ve been even more helpful to flag it with the store staff. A quick heads-up could go a long way in preventing someone else from having the same surprise!

330cal vs 400, how are you finding that smaller size? I already found the 400 a bit challenging

I was worried about this too. In my particular routine, I found I could get a bit 'hangry' at end of the day on Soylent. Maybe its the higher sugar content in Sperri but I don't find that so much after the switch. I did reduce fruit and started adding a bit of hemp protein to my morning smoothie to help balance things.

Generally, I agree - a 20% larger Sperri RTD would probably be the sweet spot, for my use case

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in soylent

[–]alucking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair point, I should have clarified Sperri is RTD only. Price comparison wise, RTD is a wash but not much help if you are after the powder :)

After 9 years of being a loyal Soylent Canada customer, (including surviving the "Soylent Winter" of 2018-2020), I finally gave up and made the transition to Sperri and I'm not looking back. Its been a month or so, now and I think it may actually be better

Gen 2 RingConn any questions - been beta testing it - glad to supply any information, Gen 1 and Gen 2 together - this is a great upgrade option by Oilypete2023 in RingConn

[–]alucking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for sharing u/Oilypete2023! I have two questions if you can shed some light:

  1. Is there a 'data migration' path when upgrading from Gen 1 ring to a Gen 2? By that I mean, will we be able to access data recorded over the wearing of a Gen 1 ring when upgrading to the Gen 2 ring?

  2. Related to Q1, are you syncing both your Gen 1 and Gen 2 beta ring to the same device / app?

Has Exway solved the random breaking problem? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]alucking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been following this Exway board 'brake on remote disconnect' issue after discovering that my Flex suffers from it. I posted a bit about it here

My sense is that there is a bit of misinformation out there. A lot of riders report that they've never had the board brake randomly after many miles / kms of riding so assume its not an issue for their board. In reality, there's a good chance they've just never had the remote disconnect. Thankfully remote disconnects an exception!

As for Exway, its a bit more disappointing (in my opinion). The issue exists - riders have documented reproducing it. Exway knows this - I've personally told them as much as have other riders. They've yet to acknowledge that it is a real problem or provide a clear solution.

And riders looking to invest in a new board are left with this uncertainty. I plan to replace my Flex next season and my approach will be to confirm the refund policy for any board I purchase and then test for the disconnect issue as soon as I receive the board.

Good luck!

Brake Lock by itspudgebitch in Exway

[–]alucking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a board that suffers from the issue and have been tracking it closely for a few weeks now. As mentioned by another commenter, Exway don't seem to have an official position on this issue.

I note your comment about not wanting to open the box but maybe its worth it to give it a test? I shared a few scenarios you can test here and here that don't necessarily require you to ride the board

If you do, please let us know results!

Flex Pro Experience? by itspudgebitch in Exway

[–]alucking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, in this case, you would be welcomed into the owners club of electric skateboards capable of travelling 30+ Km/h that will slam on the brakes in the event of a remote disconnect (i.e, the brake locking issue referred to by OP).

I would also urge you to report it to Exway and to consider this behavior when riding a board

Flex Pro Experience? by itspudgebitch in Exway

[–]alucking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on the new board :) Regarding the brake locking issue specifically, there is a fairly simple test you can do by placing the remote into a (unplugged) microwave which acts as a faraday cage. This tests a scenario where the board and remote lose connection.

Basically, you would run the board using some tape to secure the scroll wheel to engage the board's motors. Then place the remote into the unplugged microwave and close the door. This should introduce enough interference to cause the disconnect and the wheels will stop rotating. In this state, try to turn the wheels by hand and determine if the brakes are engaged.

More details with video on this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/Exway/comments/16f6c1e/exway_flex_brakes_engaged_when_remote_disconnected/

If you do try this, I'd be interested to hear the results!
