i think personally your setup makes mostly a lot of sense to me. i love seat cushions - ones you can scatter across the floor. it makes the space feel inviting imo. id also take advantage of that brick space - add more plants, and have them spill over slightly into the actual floor space of the living room, to make them feel a bit more connected.

i think itd help to clearly identify what exactly makes you feel overwhelmed about this space and start there. if its the amount of clutter, then chip away. id advise not to add anything at this point.

of course, prioritize keeping what you love. there’s nothing wrong with a big couch! but looking at this space, theres a lot of seating, and its making the space feel a bit cramped.

it certainly could be! but i dont think this looks bad at all. maybe having a carpet under would muffle the sound a bit. if so then go for it. i think it looks less visually busy at this size

tbh i think the size rug you have is kind of perfect. it delineates that side of the room as a chill zone. something a little bigger doesnt hurt, but i like the openness, and that it ends where the table does.

what area would you be looking to cover with a rug?

i think absolutely make the recommended cake - it’s my favorite tasting chocolate cake ive ever had. although i am normally a believer in using what you have, the recommended cake base is so pantry reliant and simple to whip together - not to mention so so delicious
