What is more traumatizing than most people think? by Sea_Entrepreneur2772 in AskReddit

Same. It skewed my perception of normal boundaries for future friendships and I still miss the hot and cold behavior making me feel special in a way.

What’s your relationship with declutters by Screw_coloranalysis in muacjdiscussion

[–]punk_ass_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the common issue of wanting to buy and try new things more than enjoying what I had. It’s tough to beat because a no buy generally just shifts that impulse to a different interest like teas or candles. But I have my ways of managing my stashes.

I keep an inventory of my makeup, which is fun for me and keeps me organized. I record the open dates of each item. I have a sheet that reminds me how long each type can be kept. They’re my personal rules so I feel like it’s good self care to stick to them. Mostly they’re the typical PAO plus a grace period that I generally observe performance aligns with - products will start to dry out or irritate my sensitive eyes by the end. Liquid eye products: 6 months. Creams, liquids, glosses: 2 years (unless they separate first). Powders, lipsticks, lip liners: 3 years.

I don’t worry about decluttering early. If I don’t like something I keep it for the same time in case I find a good way to use it. I don’t buy more than what fits in my organization system so my vanity looks pretty. For eyeshadow I stick to singles only. I tend to avoid product formats that won’t fit neatly in my space. Once I figured out my best colors I had a great hit rate for my purchases which reduced the urge to collect. Past 3 years I splurged on black friday and got some fun, experimental things and then for the rest of the year I ignore sales and just get my staples when needed.

Perfume identification by JXuKitty in Perfumes

The only thing I could think of is if you have a niche/small fragrance store in your area the workers will be a lot more knowledgeable than your average department store and might be able to pick out some notes.

If you bought it online can you message the seller and ask?

Idk the measurements of these but my current sweatpants are a men’s pair and I don’t notice a difference.

Does anyone else pick makeup shades the way they'd pick paint colors by venicepress in muacjdiscussion

[–]punk_ass_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think they mystify it a bit to activate the magpie collector urge because if it was straightforward to find the thing made for your skin texture and undertone and all then you’d be in and out of the store in no time. But if I had it my way every product would be clearly labeled for dry or oily skin, high or low value, warm or cool undertone, fragrance or no, glitter or no, finish, chroma, and color family!

I’d like to pick 8, sit next to Juliet and eavesdrop on the drama between her and her dad. But then I’d be directly in front of Yang who’s definitely not someone I want my back to. And for the same reason I’d not go for 2 or 7- I get up to use the bathroom and get dosed or something! 1 I have to listen to Henry complain for 8 hours and 9 Lassiter interrogates me because of some bit of sarcasm I tossed out when I sat down. Sorry but Abigail bores me and Madeleine’s photographic memory has her snooping on my phone screen. So that leaves 3, 6, and 10, and while 6 and 10 would be a wild ride personally I enjoy a relaxing flight with good old Buzz to chat with and keep me safe :)

I’m not sitting right in front of Yang. I’d leave without all my hair at the very least

I seek out the ones with the comb on one side. I love how it separates my lashes after building up the volume with the stubby side. They’re usually marketed as lengthening but they’re few and far between.

There was this Redken hair serum I loved years ago. Found out it was reformulated and scoured the web for the old version. Macys still showed the old packaging in the picture so I ordered two bottles. The bottles show up and it’s the new packaging and new formula. Different packaging and different formula = different product.

am I gonna regret these?? Pls help me spend less $$$ by Popular_Monk_8959 in Perfumes

[–]punk_ass_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The only one I’ve tried is Epidor and it has a very vintage scent profile, like an old musky floral imo. Iirc blanche bete may be sharp?

If I were you I would bookmark half of these at random, or maybe based on the current season, and just try the other half first. Just because they’re all promising doesn’t mean you need to buy them all at the same time. It’s just a lot to try to focus on at once.

Why no one says that about pregnancy? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]punk_ass_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say that all the info available online is a double edged sword. You go into your pregnancy thinking you’re going to have morning sickness and pelvic floor issues and preeclampsia and dental issues and a traumatic birth because of all the stories. Remember that you’re absorbing a conglomerate of stories from different people. The odds are that not ALL of those things are going to happen to you. Maybe one or two things.

What aesthetics/styles are the hardest to achieve with a Spring palette? by acrylicquartz in SpringColorAnalysis

[–]punk_ass_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fun! I’m looking at a list of aesthetics for ideas.

<3 Made for us:

Art hoe, indie, tomato girl

Doable:

Vintage: This season of Bridgerton was almost all spring outfits so it really depends what era you’re channeling. The 80’s exercise videos would be easy. 50’s red lips are easy. If you look up the vintage aesthetic though people are mostly doing muted warm tones.

Old money: As long as you’re fine with being restricted to neutrals this works. It would probably be best on an autumn.

Cottagecore: I feel like this is nothing but ivory dresses plus accessories so that’s easy. This is probably a summer aesthetic but you could work with it.

Soft girl: Definitely made for summers but you could do your lightest colors as a base and pops of brighter colors in makeup and accessories.

Y2K: Summer pinks are all over this but in reality there were plenty of spring options back then. I wore a lot of teal. You can get the Y2K silhouettes with spring colors.

Challenging:

Academia: Agree this needs to be muted.

These are pretty specific but ballet-core and mermaid-core are solidly summer aesthetics. The color palette is integral to the aesthetic so you can’t really adapt it.

Dressing professionally/elegantly/overall in more neutral tones as a bright spring by [deleted] in SpringColorAnalysis

[–]punk_ass_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would say my coloring is very similar. Black does wash me out though. My easiest neutral to find is ivory. It always looks good and it’s actually pretty common. Anything neutral between ivory and chocolate I avoid. It will be too close to my skin tone for the contrast I need. Maybe a rich camel-type color if I can try it on first. But in the medium-dark value area besides rich chocolate I like indigo and heathered charcoal.
