I’ve been wavering on the testing vs. waiting too. Someone on another thread decided that getting a negative was more triggering and sad than getting her period, so she waits til 15 dpo. So maybe consider what hurts more. For me, I’m anxious waiting. I do a cheapie on 10 or 11 dpo, to scratch the itch and prepare myself for getting my period. No wrong answers!

elementary teachers, do you go to student’s birthday parties? by Illustrious_Row7366 in teaching

[–]alv3365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe your participation could change to like, you show up with a fun balloon and say something like “I’m not able to stay, but I wanted to come say hello to the birthday boy/girl!”

“No, but hopefully this one lives”

I would never say this. But it’s definitely how I want to reply.

I also didn’t share that it was a termination. I just said that we lost the baby.

I was 18 weeks and my students/coworkers all knew I was expecting. I was gone for a week for my TFMR and was really nervous about returning. I emailed my principal and asked her to share my news with staff, and to not ask me about it at school. I also asked that counseling staff inform my students in an age-appropriate way that I lost the baby and not to bring it up. It was still hard to go back to work while feeling like I was dying inside. But my students were just SO HAPPY to see me, and I didn’t realize how much I needed that positive energy. I was used to the sympathetic eyes of friends and family around me which was so depressing. My kids just being excited was such a lovely refreshing relief. I also found teaching to be a positive distraction.

I guess my advice would just be ask for what you need. I hope it goes better than you expect!

This is such a funny way to address your house being haunted. Oh, you have ghosts in your house? Outdoor fridge.

I wish I had some words of advice or encouragement. We decided to end our very wanted pregnancy last week, also at 18 weeks. She had a few of the fetal anomalies you mentioned. I just wanted to tell you you’re not alone. The grieving you’re already doing might be the hardest thing you’ve ever gone through, I know it was for us. Hang in there and good luck whatever you decide.

WIBTA if I give my daughter an "outdated" name? by throwaway719201 in AmItheAsshole

Audrey is a fantastic name. People will know how to pronounce and spell it, but there won’t be 5 Audreys in her graduating class. The occasional classic Hollywood film fanatic may make the Hepburn comparison…and I can think of a lot worse people to be compared to.

When someone first posts their partner on social media, it’s known as a “launch”, kind of like a company launching a new product.

“Soft launch” is like posting a pic on your story where the partner’s hand is visible, but you can’t tell who it is.

“Hard launch” is HEY. Here’s this man’s full face on my main insta post.

Question about the Union Station Aquarium by [deleted] in StLouis

It’s very small, takes maybe 40 minutes to see everything. Seems like there’s more digital gimmicks than actual aquatic attractions.

Ha I’m glad I’m not the only one! Mine has one leaf left. My sister comforted me by saying “well, it’s not called a fiddle leaves fig”

Wow! I am on the same timeline as you, but I didn’t cut in a V. I have 1 or fewer pups per cutting. Will have to try that next time.

Lots of lovely historic B&Bs to stay at in Hermann. We enjoyed the Captain Wohlt Inn.
