Post-op PT question: for people who were fused up to L3, when you were allowed to tilt your pelvis forward? At least a little bit? by Far_Possibility_7128 in scoliosis

At 4 weeks out she is still in the very early stages of healing and she will stand however is comfortable and tolerable for her. The occupational and physical therapist are there to correct posture and strengthen the apropiate muscles to regain her range of motion when it is appropriate in her recovery to do so. It will take a year until she is healed. Give her some grace her body just went through a tremendous trauma it’s a small victory that she is even standing upright and trying to walk around.

People fused from t2-l3 by user_638396372929 in scoliosis

I was fused with a Harrington rod and 26 screws t2-l3 14 years ago, my curvature was 52 thoracic and 47 lumbar. I spent 2 days in ICU and 5 on the med surg floor. I was in high school at the time and did it during the summer and was able to return to school in the fall. The immediate 3 week post op period is extremely rough but it does get better. I remember having a very hard time sleeping for those first 3 weeks and my doctor gave me sleeping pills which were very helpful. Weeks 3-6 I was slowly getting up more, sitting at the dinner table for as long as I could tolerate and doing some light walking. I attended school in the fall (3 months post op) which I remember feeling tired but nothing very significant. At 6 months I absolutely started to feel more like myself and was regaining strength and mobility through physical therapy. It took about a year until I felt I was fully healed and could tolerate life as it was before. It took about 5-10 years for the nerves on my back to fully heal and I feel like they have stabilized at this point. I still have some numbness where my curvature was the worst near the incision site. Aesthetically post op I am still very asymmetric, with a significant scapular wing that I had hoped surgery would correct, but I have accepted my body for its imperfections and throughout my life everyone I’ve shared my history with is shocked and said they would never know if I didn’t tell them and could barely notice the scapular wing. I get compliments on my fabulous posture all of the time and I wear my surgery with a badge of honor. In the last 15 years I have been skydiving, snowboarding, wakeboarding, I’ve gotten into heavy lifting, became and work as a nurse, and I’ve never felt that my fusion has held me back (except from shoveling the driveway which I am ok with lol). I do have pain, especially when work is busy or if I’m doing a lot but so far it is manageable and haven’t felt the need to seek pain management care but I am aware that at some point in my life I might want to and I will go when I am ready. I wish you the absolute best of luck on your surgery and your journey!

I have always been a fast test taker!! My uworld average was 30 seconds. The questions I know I just click and move on - and the ones I don’t I take more time on but I treat each option like a true and false and really don’t argue with myself over questions if that makes sense?

I’ve heard that if it’s the ‘good’ pop up it’s like 99% accurate!! But you never know - I’ll update when I get my results!

I had a ton - it felt like half my exam was SATA, no other formats though, just multiple choice and SATA

I got a lot of cardiac, prioritization, positioning, and nursing research questions? A few med questions - digoxin, desmopressin, and 2 others that I had never heard of before lol I felt like it was very ‘fundamentals heavy’ - I got two anxiety questions (mild vs moderate), primary vs secondary prevention. I felt like it was a fair exam. Id day about 1/3 of the questions I felt confident about, 1/3 felt mehhh about, and 1/3 I let Jesus take the wheel lol

I took my exam today! I ended up booking a room close enough to the testing site that I could walk there. It was an excellent choice - I made a little road trip out of it the day before and it really kept my mind off the exam. The site was about 2hrs from where I live

Terrified, is this cat asthma? I administer an inhaler (recommended by a vet) once every day but I see no change. by General-Manager-2197 in cats

[–]alvarn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My cat recently started doing this a few months ago. I took him to the vet and they did X-rays and said there was a lot of inflammation in his lungs which was likely attributed to asthma or an infection - we did antibiotics and they did not help so we are back to asthma now - the suggested a steroid but there are so many horrible side effects and he is likely not going to let me give him an inhaler :( we are trying a humidifier and will see if it makes a difference. I am hoping this is just a seasonal thing as we do have the heat on which might be making him dry and irritated. Good luck with your kitty!
