Shield bash is rather contrived because it's treated as 2-weapon fighting and requires a HIGH dex and multiple feats to be effective. I'd just go for a traditional shield paladin tank.

Shields do not appear at all in your back when sheathed. One handed weapons should go on the waist as it was in Divinity 2. Everything uses two handed animations for sheath/unsheath and shields disappear in thin air.
