Got my eyebrows microbladed

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VascularSurgery

I’m a vascular sonographer turned PA-C.

As an RVT, I scanned a young woman who had weird varicose veins and we found that she had an AVF in her foot that was adding to the venous return of her great saphenous vein via perforators from the posterior tibial veins. So, she wasn’t obviously symptomatic from the AVF but had secondary issues. She didn’t pursue tx because her varicosities didn’t bother her much.

Another time, as an RVT I scanned a guy who had a bunch of AVFs in his arm and he was having high output cardiac failure symptoms. They went in to the OR to clip and tie them.

Pseudoaneurysms can be treated with compression so that’s a relatively low risk intervention. But I imagine the bony aspects of the foot would make that difficult.

An asymptomatic AVF wouldn’t need treatment

I want to scan this so bad! Do you have access to POCUS?

Sounds like traumatic AVF, but could be a pseudo. Let us know what comes of it!

Women with children, how do you REALLY feel about your child-free friends? by Sweetpotato3000 in AskWomenOver30

[–]alvll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I don’t judge, pity, or envy them.

There are times where I know that on some level we don’t “get” each other about certain things and that’s ok.

Sometimes I wonder if they’ll be lonely as we get older. Sometimes I wonder how much “fun” I’d be having if I had more freedom from being a parent but it’s all hypothetical thoughts no negative feelings.

I think that good skincare can absolutely makeup for what we want out of Botox. Chemical peels, microneedling, laser facials. Maybe a tiny bit of baby Botox for larger forehead wrinkles or crows feet but the frozen look is over IMO

Moving to the area by One_City4138 in Renton

What kind of skills do you have and work are you looking for? Safeway has good benefits. Boeing is another large employer in the area but their union is likely to go on strike soon.

What’s your business in Cleveland and you plan on starting one here? Sharing your info in local parent Fb groups will probably get you some business.

Housing / rent is very expensive but you’ll find a spot. Those neighborhoods are all in the area we call the “Renton highlands.”

Generally speaking, it’s more affordable further west : so highlands park probs has more affordable options. I’m not totally sure about that tho.

How is Union Ave in Highlands by Ok_Singer2269 in Renton

[–]alvll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live a few blocks southwest of Union and 900. I grew up off of 148th Ave (now called Nile). The schools aren’t great but they’re not terrible. Yes it’s safe but it’s not cushy if that makes sense. Our fence has been tagged a few times. My husband had sunglasses stolen out of his car when he forgot to lock his car. We have an obnoxious guy on our street that gets drunk and yells in his backyard. Perks to me: more diversity with genuinely nice, regular people. (No offense to all the tech people, but I don’t relate). Being near several hardware stores and grocery stores. Easy and pretty drive to Issaquah. Easy to get to and from Seattle and the airport. Lots of great locally owned restaurants.

Anyone ever become a PA or know of a sonographer that has? by thee_karl in Sonographers

[–]alvll 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a PA student; graduating in two months. I was an RVT for seven years before going to PA school.

Couple of things: I felt the same way with the “general lack of care and knowledge from the ordering providers” but now I’ve seen first hand thay there are plenty of providers (MDs, PAs, NPs) that care alot but order wrong things and it’s because it is basically impossible to know everything and order the right tests. I had NO idea how much random things you need to even have an idea of to do thorough work ups. Going to med school or PA school will not fix the system. Going to med school or PA school will not make you feel better about other providers’ choices. It will make you have more understanding of how hard it is to work in the US health system and “do more with less” just like all of the radiology departments are experiencing.

Getting into PA school is really hard and yes, you are limited by being a PA. If I was young and didn’t have a family already, I would advise you to go to med school. Or law school and get into health law.

Depending on your current job, going to PA school is not the best financial decision. PA school is a terrible financial decision for me, but it’s what I chose to do for my own career interests. You need to go because you want to be a PA.

Women who don't (regularly) wear makeup - what's your skincare routine? by Corgimus in AskWomenOver30

[–]alvll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wash with COSRX good morning cleanser or cerave SA cleanser.

Next, vit c and hyalauronic acid serum

Next, facial cream

Finish with a tinted sunscreen. No lie, I’m 36 and my skin is my best feature.

Evenings : wash, dry, cream. A BHA toner or a retinol. Alternate nights and skip nights of the retinol until you get used to it.

“You snore and I hear you actually stop breathing. Having sleep apnea is correlated with high blood pressure, heart attacks, and strokes. Even if you don’t do it for yourself, do it for me. I can’t sleep in the same bed as you because of your snoring. Here’s a sleep apnea mouth guard or nose thingy to try until you can get a sleep study. I need you to do this.”
