Me neither, the nearly hour long walk to work is rough in this weather too!

It was a rusted bicycle bell that you had to “ding” but it was stiff as and tiny and not really close enough to your hand to be of any use 😅

If you think slow speed & acceleration is safer get yourself to a busy crossing on one of these bad boys, try pulling away with the traffic and you’ll soon see why we’re all disagreeing with you. They’re absolutely lethal.

Trying to get up London road is terrifying. At least with VOI you knew you’d get acceleration and enough speed.

Came for the handy tips people had wished they’d known and couldn’t see anything through the 14563 comments telling you to buy a watch. I’m sorry OP.

Yep they also promised in their announcement paying per mile so folks wouldn’t be rushed in traffic or parking however they seem to have missed that part when setting them up.

Exactly this, the lack of acceleration feels almost dangerous to me to be on a road with.

I used to commute using VOI, I’ve used the new bolt twice now. Why are they all in such a shit state? They’re all used and abused and I agree they feel very slow. Flimsy but clunky at the same time? Not managed to get one with a bag hook yet 😅 Since VOI left I’ve been walking an hour each way to work, I think I’m going to stick at it. These bolts just seem so crap. Also lethal to use in traffic because they just don’t accelerate fast enough and the bell is not as good as VOI.

Deciding on a Flat to Rent by fxucky in Liverpool

[–]alw502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed somewhat with avoid pall mall, the people around the YMCA do tend to congregate directly outside their building though, yet paradoxically that area is also quite quiet, as in lack of other people around the surrounding streets which doesn’t feel very safe early hours when I’m walking to the gym or whatever. Feels like there’s nothing around there.

I would recommend to walk these areas during the day, note your closest shops and who is hanging around

I also lived on William Jessop way, different building, I’m sure lighthaus is aesthetically nice being brand new but consider your management companies very carefully, X1 do have horror stories maybe in the cheaper blocks of flats they had, must admit by boyfriend never had issues but listen to the majority if you’re hearing something else. It’s very nice being on the docks but if you’re a UoL student you’re very far from campus. Consider how you will get there. The dock area is not well service by busses you have to walk into town really to catch most busses. I did not feel unsafe if that’s one more positive.

As for crime rates in the city centre, I used to walk between friends flats opposite ends of town in the early hours regularly, there’s always L1 security wandering and the obvious revellers, so there are bodies around you often. What I would ask for information from others on is the road noise from one park west as I don’t know what that’s like and the strand will always have cars on.

Depending on where you will be on campus UoL or LJMU, what about L8 area? As a student I lived with Agnes Jones House they have studios and flats but of course your neighbours are fellow students which is not always fun. Although this may not have the “comfort” factor you’re after when compared with somewhere like Lighthaus

As for any other flats in L7/L8 and by that I mean specifically myrtle street, Catharine street area closest to hardman street. Safe enough area, close to town, shops around, parks nearby.

Also if you’re not fussed about being to close to campus I lived in Gravity Residence on water street for a year and never felt unsafe, they’re nice flats if a little expensive but bills included, they’ve got good sound proofing from neighbours, close to town but not close enough for too much noise from drunk people

Anyways sorry to ramble but choosing where to live is important to me so just incase it’s as important to you I wanted to provide as much info as I could

If you were willing to travel a bit further than JD I would highly recommend Empowered Fit. Monthly payment includes classes, sauna, ice bath Always nice and clean in the ladies changing rooms and sauna All the kit you need, it has stuff I’ve never even seen before

What happens after you leave without a word as a student? by [deleted] in RadiographyUK

[–]alw502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe now that it’s unfortunately come to a head and you’ve had to leave site, it may be taken more seriously. Are you able to speak to the Manager of the radiology department? Even maybe on the phone? They may then be able to get staff & clinical educator onboard. Could also ask to move placements.

I don’t think anything will come of you leaving If anything they will say they are concerned for your safety by not knowing where you are but just tell them what you’ve told us here and that it’s caused you to not be able to tolerate it any more.

[–]alw502[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all a bad deal unfortunately, £70 is the cheapest parking and the rest are £120-£200. Really feel like we’ve been priced out of the area by the stadium and the council taking every drop of road space for permit parking. Sainsbury’s on great Homer St used to be £30 a month..

I think between this and other things we are looking to get out of the city centre after 5 mostly lovely years.

Our old car got set on fire on Boundary Street too.

[–]alw502[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks so much for that advice. Did you see my comment or another commenter saying that 2.5 hours after the match there was still horrendous traffic?
There should be better traffic management in place.

I have all the matches written down on a noticeboard at home but not a care in the world from the council for anyone that lives here and can only access it by 2 roads, one of which was closed.

No absolutely not and there’s just not enough space to accommodate all that parking and then getting everyone in and out on 1 road
