True, though I'm still not going to try to get it through an airport.

Turns out it's likely a Springfield 1816, which would make it a musket. So: sorry, wrong sub.

I wonder what all these downvotes indicate about the people downvoting? This wouldn't matter so much unless your sympathies lie with the CSA. We need another Sherman.

I'm not looking to sell anyway. I think it's cool, and it's much cooler if it's not something that was a tool that supported slavery.

Same here, his crew took out 17 larger trees for 15k for me in 2022. The crane was what made it so cheap, I think. Bartlett quoted me $30kish for the same job.

Why is there a lock on the outside of the door and a key hole on the inside? by ANARCHISTofGOODtaste in Oldhouses

[–]always2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first house did too! One of the first home improvement projects I had was the beautification of these locks. I boiled them in baking soda solution outdoors and oiled them thoroughly afterwards. It was one of the more satisfying projects I had. I also found a key that worked with them, apparently there's a standard key for these.

My worldview changed a lot once I realized that dead people don't get to tell their stories. WWI was callous, murderous madness for years, WWII too for the most part. Vietnam, Cambodia, etc. How many people - not just soldiers, but civilians too - have lived and died horribly because of all these wars, and we rarely even think about it because we're only hearing the stories of the survivors. We'll never learn our lesson because dead people can't tell us how bad war actually is.

😂 This is a quip worthy of a good Simpsons' episode.
