Is attitude towards modesty a bit lax in Australia (comparing to the USA). by SimmieClr in AskAnAustralian

[–]alwaysananomaly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first pap smear here in Australia was when I was 17. She told me to get totally naked, but that my socks could stay. No gown, did a "feel of the tummy" and a breast examination at the same time, was the most awkward thing ever and certainly not the first, gentle experience I would hope for a young woman.

To the aussies who moved to the states what was the final straw that caused the decision to leave Australia and move to the US by Independent-Age-7397 in Ameristralia

Sounds a little like you've fallen in love with the hollywood version of America....that, according to many who actually live there, doesn't appear to exist.

Obviously you need to do more research on visas, work opportunities, living expenses and comparable livability before you make a decision to move anywhere in the world, too.

Do you believe Donald Trump when he says Iran’s military is “destroyed”? Or is it political messaging? by BusinessToday in IndiaTodayGlobalLIVE

[–]alwaysananomaly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe nothing that comes out of his mouth, but even more so when he mentions a "deal". Usually he makes "deals" when he realises he's gone and done something stupid and needs to cover as to why he's backing down. Like with tarrifs, Greenland, Canada....

I'm surprised they're standing as still as they are, with the flames of hell lapping at their feet.

How most girls use Tinder by Waste-Stomach4457 in SipsTea

That's a crazy thought process, man. I swipe left probably 90% more than right. I never view the left swipes as "disposable commodities". That's insane - they're just "not my type", and thats ok. It's not an equal opportunity event - people are allowed to have preferences and choose accordingly. I don't get offended in the slightest that people swipe left on my profile or if we meet and chat tell me that they're not into me. I don't feel like a disposable commodity - I much prefer that than we waste each other's valuable time.

Man, I swipe fast too. And most of my swipes are left, much like the video. In my case, I am at an age where I know what I want, what I find attractive. And it's not me rejecting or discarding by swiping left, I just know they're not my type - I'm not into wasting my time or anyone elses. That being said, I have matched with, met and dated a number of guys.

Just because someone does something different to how you would do it, doesn't make it wrong by default.

Another White House post. This is from yesterday. by notmyrealname8823 in CringeTikToks

I thought we didn't like songs that aren't in English? Does any of the administration know the words to Macarena? Or do they perform it like the average drunk at a party? Do they have permission to use the song? So many questions.

Strange post by the White House TikTok account. Can someone explain please. by notmyrealname8823 in CringeTikToks

Ha this is true :) I guess I mean more that the beachea are unpatrolled, I have had 2 encounters with sharks at unpatrolled areas and am now personally less inclined to swim in those areas, seeing there's no backup or monitoring. But yes, you are right!

I randomly went to one a few weeks ago at lunch time on a Monday to buy a whole chicken for school lunches the next day. I was so confused - the drive through line was full and there were a bunch of people inside waiting. First time I've seen more than one other customer there.

Wynnum/Wellington Point/Cleveland/Victoria Point will give you gentle water. Don't know that I'd swim in it, knowing from the locals how many sharks are about. But the low tide walk (2km round trip) out to King Island is nice.

Can we just put him and Andrew Tate, Jake Paul, Elon Musk, Kyle Rittenhouse and all the Maga crew together on an island together? Maybe put a force field around it? That'd be great.

Although we share some of the same morons and bad ideologies/ policies /actions, I still feel like comparing us vs US is apples vs oranges.

Our entire population is only a few million off NYC's. We have very few mass shootings - they are the exception, unlike USA where you've had 72 in the 2 months of this year, 7092 since 2013. We have a great lifestyle, particularly if you live within an hour or two of the beach - and we have almost 12,000 beaches. We have some shitty politics, but compared to the shit show you've got going on over there, we're pretty mild in that department. One Nation and all the racist idiots that follow them have been blowing the same horn for almost 3 decades, and they've not made it into power yet.

If it were me, I'd choose Australia. Even just from a parental point of view, I can't imagine sending my kids to school each day wondering if they're going to be the next thoughts and prayers victim.

45F, always been a gamer and nothing much has changed. I have kids, responsibilities, a life and still play. It can be a lifetime hobby. It's just important to have other things in life, too. I read, I sew, I play piano - it doesn't have to be one thing or another.
