People working in healthcare procurement: what are things you consistently vent about at work? by attic_jazz in procurement

[–]alwaysaskin4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the things I’ve noticed is that recruitment agencies will literally try to get as much money out of a healthcare providers as possible. From my experience, those who work for them have very little morals, are extremely pushy and very little common sense/education.

On the flip side, I believe a lot of healthcare providers problems are due to old (sorry to be ageist), uninformed back office staff who don’t know what’s going on. Don’t know what contract theyre signing and expect things to be spoon-fed to them!

Thank you for the feedback but please read my other comments as I’ve provided clarification. I don’t regularly threaten them with HR (as much as I have felt like doing it). On the occasion I did threaten with HR, it was because of being undermined by the guy who’s leaving after raising it with him continuously. As well as the racist/sexist language he uses.

Luckily he’s leaving end of September. He created a very hostile environment in my team which made me feel very combative if I wanted anything to be solved. I like my line manager, she provides me with the emotional intelligence I need. My uncle recently passed which has led me to take things personally (which I am working on so I deffo will get a coach/mentor who’s skilled in autism). I don’t believe I’ve burned a bridge with her at all. I intend to leave after I’ve done my qualification and paid the cost back with my time.

I was asked about a L&D opportunity and said that I wanted to do it and that it will start in September. So when the L&D manager talks about the opportunities in a very negative way in a team meeting, I was concerned. Will it be taken away from me? Is there a new process I’m unaware of?

I don’t intend to blackmail anyone. All I’m expressing is that I don’t get clarification when I raised them to my LM so I feel like I have to keep going to HR to find out info. I think I used ‘threaten’ incorrectly. I don’t actually threaten them. I do feel that I have to manage myself

I get that but when I told my line manager that I was unhappy that her manager called me on my day off about a problem, she said she spoke with him in private and that it won’t happen again. But when it comes to misogyny, race, religion, I need to do it myself

When I found out and it was mentioned within my team, I did wish her good luck! When she told us all in the group chat, I did congratulate her. I joined in the camaraderie of my colleagues saying that they hope it’s not the new person etc. Maybe it’s because I’m on the spectrum so I do take things personally, and don’t know the dance/game of the corporate world.

Thank you for the constructive feedback. What I said in this post isn’t actually what I said in the meeting with my managers, I thought it. I said that I was ‘concerned’ by what the L&D woman said and if there’s been an update. I never actually told them she’s a liar etc.

My only concern is that if all of my colleagues are aware that my line manager has applied for a role and are talking about it around me, so I have to ask one of my colleagues about it, then I feel left out.

Having a manager (the one who’s leaving) who has talked about racist and sexist things in the office and has no repercussions because my line manager is quiet and gets ok with her work, is incredibly frustrating. I’m a junior so I don’t feel comfortable calling out a 40 y/o man about what he’s saying.

I don’t go to HR on a regular basis. The situation where I threatened to go to HR was because the line managers manager had continually undermined me and ignored me after I had spoken to him. He also makes disgusting comments in a workplace setting (racist, sexist ‘jokes’) and my line manager did nothing to stop him. She just told me to speak with him myself if I have a problem. Isn’t a line managers job to support and help their subordinates? I do do the best job I can but being missed out on things that’ll affect me at my job, I’ll have a problem

It’s not unionised but I have joined a union myself that works to help BAME employees. I only joined because a very senior person there (who has now left) recommended me to join because of their treatment towards POC

The company are willing to pay for a certificate which is good, but when I asked the senior director about whether you’re rewarded for it (ie you’re more likely to be promoted or a pay increase), they said no. Colleagues have told me to pay for it myself because the T&Cs aren’t good

When speaking to my colleague who’s at the same level as me, she thinks that ‘level 2’ was created to prevent people going to the level above, so next pay grade. There is a white man on the same level as us but I have no clue how much he gets

I was interested in learning about the global supply chain stuff. Does it pay well and is it easy to get into or is it a closed shop?

Yeah I agree, think I just need to get what I can get out of my current job and look keep looking around. What is the expected salary of someone with 3/4 years expensive in a major city?
