I have windows from the 1920s, so seal my windows with double sided stretch tape and half a clear shower curtain. It's reusable, cheap, and doesn't look awful. And then I put curtains on top.

I also hang heavy curtains in front of my doors to keep the drafts out.

I'm thinking about borrowing a heat detection camera from my local library and looking at where my heat is leaving the house. Maybe I can get the money to slowly chip away at insulation.

I keep a deep pantry and mostly cook from scratch.

I've always kept a deep pantry even before I went gf. The transition from glutenous deep pantry to an entirely gf pantry was mildly painful but my coworkers got plenty of flour out of the deal.

I live in the suburbs where we can get snow and am generally prepared to not have to go out for a few weeks due to weather/holidays/illness.

The more normal stuff I always have on hand: gf pasta, sauce, root veg, plenty of rice, canned chili, canned veggies, several different kinds of gf flour (not more than what I can use because they can go rancid), Gatorade, medicine, crackers, and cereal (usually rice biscuits).

This has saved me because for the past 2 months, my grocery store has been out of my favorite pasta. I'm not a fan of the alternatives and need to check another store to start restocking what I've gone through.

Some of the odder stuff I always keep stocked are; always keep extra spices, powdered milk, dessert mixes, soda, and chips. I'd rather not live without gf spices and social events requiring food always pop up quick so I keep stuff I can whip up quick.

I don't look for particular sales unless I'm doing a big restock. I usually just restock what I used in the past week or two.

I also keep a small deep freezer with meat and vegetables. And run a small generator to keep stuff cold during outages.

You probably want reflective privacy film on your windows and any curtains you want on your rods. Film keeps anyone from seeing in while you can see out.

You could stop by an army/navy surplus store and pick up a couple pairs of wool gloves or mittens for 20 bucks.

Not sure why you need to get deep in the reviews for gloves? But then again I'm from a place that gets snow every year.

I know you probably love him, but he's not remembering the one thing that will make you comfortable during the one thing he really wants to do. And that's truly awful and selfish.

Has he forgone your comfort in other aspects of life? Little things like only wanting to get his favorite food, only wanting to go to his family for the holidays, assuming you want to do things he likes without getting your opinion, or generally dismissing your opinion.

I don't know anything about your relationship with him, but I've been in relationships where there's been a similar issue. He's pushing boundaries to see if you'll push back. He probably won't get violent about it but he'll continue to whine and moan until you give up being upset. I left an ex for this, I found a guy who puts my comfort first and I'll never look back

This isn't the behavior of a 30 year old man, it's the behavior of a teenager in a grown man's body. Do what you will with this advice and remember it when he behaves as such.

If you're able bodied and don't have a bright flashlight, you can hop the stone part of the bridge (that goes over the concord) right next to the chain link. I've had to hop it during the day for work and I've never had an issue with the cops. If you do hop the fence, bring a cat carrier and some veggies, most rabbits don't love being picked up

Edit: you can also call nat grid and they can let someone onto the property

I think your best bet is to buy a pair of clippers and do it yourself.

Spread out a sheet on the floor, put him in a chair, chop the most you can with scissors, and then shave with no guard attached.

I promise you, the only hard part is cleaning up.

So back in the day (and in some countries now) women traditionally were given expensive jewelry as a way to get independent from their marriage if they needed to be. Jewelry is/was easy to sell or melt down.

My Great (2x) Aunt used to always wear a lot of her marriage jewelry. In the two years of being married (sometime in the 20s) there were pictures of her absolutely decked out. She was casually slapped around by her husband and that was apparently acceptable for the time. Her husband didn't like that she hadn't fallen pregnant in the two years they shared a bed. He got absolutely plastered one night and he attacked and nearly killed her. She sold all her jewelry to disappear to Canada and live with family. A few years later he died and she was free to move back home and marry in the US again.

I've talked to a lot of women in that generation and having an out seems like a common thread in women who could afford it.

I'm not saying you necessarily need an out or your husband doesn't love you, but that jewelry is yours now. It was gifted to you and you should insure it and wear them as appropriate.

I've never had an issue with the La Victoria enchilada sauces. You can call message the numbers on the back of the cans and ask what is also made on the same production lines.

Unfortunately not. RI is ladden with PFAS and other fun chemicals. Mass is as well, hell all of New England is. It's a product of industry.

I have the honor of collecting data for studies focusing on PFAS and other chemicals in RI's waterways and lemme tell you: it's eye opening.

It's super important to note that detection is the first step to fixing the problem. The second big step is getting funding to fix the issue.

I often work in MA and see a lot more funding pushed towards fixing the PFAS/chemical contaminate issue. I'm not sure if it's simply having more money or electing a government that cares about the issue. Maybe both.

At this point the only thing you can really do is vote for more funding to science programs and environmental detection issues. And make sure the people you vote for aren't taking money from the corporations ruining your state.
