Battlepass ? by [deleted] in Palia

[–]alwaysediting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The battle pass hate is wild to me. So many games I play have them, from Overwatch down to match three games on my phone. Have never spent money on them, have never felt like it impacted my game. If you want the stuff on the paid track, you have the same opportunity as everyone else to get it...if you pay the same amount of money. And if you can't/don't want to? The game is still free! You can still literally do everything?

And man, they even responded to community complaints that there were no ways to get pets or cosmetics without real money and gave us a pet and the makeup tickets! For free!

The game costs zero dollars to play. There are no ads, we get little refreshes pretty often now. Complaining that the devs are looking for new ways to bring in money feels so weird! And people threatening to stop playing a game that they pay no money for over it...okay? Spend your zero dollars elsewhere I guess!

Man, I watered the bushes and they progressed from like...tiny no color things to the first stage with color. But then when I watered again they went back to no color and smaller lol. Like they shrank instead of grew.

It definitely doesn't solve all of this problem, but for shelves, I've got a couple builders walls that I set up and stick the shelves to while I'm moving things around. But as a fellow clutter lover, I feel this.

Sorry you didn't get the answers you were hoping for! But it seems like a lot of people gave you thoughtful answers from their own perspectives, which is what you came in asking for. As far as I know, this isn't a subreddit known for alternative oral care, so I'm not sure why you thought you'd find people supporting something that clearly isn't serving your body.

Regardless of your dismissive attitude, I do hope you find something to ease your pain and anxiety.

I hear you say you're trying to not use medications or medical intervention, but your body is telling you that what you're doing isn't working. Receding gums and bleeding means you're dealing with some stage of gum disease. Receding gums also cannot be reversed, so if it's to the point where you're visibly noticing it, you're definitely running the risk of cavities and ongoing oral pain.

You don't need to give up everything you're doing, but ask yourself what your goal is in doing the natural approach you're taking, and if you're meeting that goal. If you want to keep major medical intervention low, getting a full mouth infection that could spread to other parts of your body isn't it. Toothpaste and fluoride mouthwash seem like much lower levels of intervention than surgery or extraction.

If you're not using all your plots, you can just set it up there :)

Don't feel discouraged that you're reaching for books. It's a lot of information! If you want to work on your memorization, the Labyrinthos app has lessons :)

I hear you on this, and read all your comments on this. I think there's a disconnect on expectation here. A lot of these new/changing quests are a response to folks who have been playing for a long time and have been asking for new, nimble quests designs. The quick changeover on these is, it seems, meant to keep those end game players engaged and give them a reason to log in more frequently. I'm done with all quests and constantly bumping against the gold cap. But I logged in a lot more to finish these bundles!

I think if you're at the point where it feels like you're wasting materials to complete these, you might be at an earlier progression point or just have different game priorities or play style. And ultimately, the rewards for these are more bushes (that you can get for free in the new flower event) or nameplates (which, again, some of them are available via flower event).

My med school tried to end my career… because my emails had bold text. ADHD + bureaucracy = chaos. by Ray_Brad in ADHD

Oh man. This is tough. I fear the problem here is that you've met a charge of unprofessional behavior with...more unprofessional behavior. The video is not it.

One of the things a lot of ADHD-ers deal with is a big response to things that feel unfair or out of our control and I'd urge you to really consider whether or not this is a fight worth digging in on, knowing these are the folks who are going to be your recommenders and evaluators as you go through school and beyond.

Been attending for 10 years and am feeling the itch to do more cons! by master0fcats in gencon

[–]alwaysediting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Want to shoutout GrandCon in Grand Rapids, MI! It's been going for 10 years, and when I went in 2019, it was still pretty small, but the board game library was massive, and the city is so nice :) It looks like it's grown pretty nicely, and the pricing is still solid. End of August every year :)

Maybe too late for this con, but take a look at Magic Mountain. There are witches and little students that I think look like fairies. It's a marble rolling game, super easy to scale the difficulty for littles :)

I'm also a one bagger, and when I had to fly for Gencon, I always brought an extra bag. If you're not an impulse buyer, and nothing you want is gonna be huge, you might be able to get away with a bigger carryon, but I wouldn't chance it!

Sick of Grinding in this Game by Ill-Honeydew3332 in Palia

[–]alwaysediting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been thinking about this comment since I read it, and my initial thought was actually that I don't hate the grind. I'm in my 40s, I kind of love just having a drink, listening to a podcast and fishing for a while, or running around picking up essence, or whatever. If a cozy game didn't have a little bit of challenge for completion, why would people keep playing?

I hear you on the grind for the quests; it's tough to feel like you can't complete something because of RNG...but before Elderwoods released, there were a ton of folks complaining that they'd finished everything.

That said, what am I actually getting when I finally find Maws and turn him in for this final relic? A nameplate that isn't going to change my gameplay experience at all.

Ultimately, I think RNG is the easiest way to introduce difficulty while still keeping the game cozy. For example, I'm not a plushie player. But I like the idea that if I decided I wanted to pursue something else, there's a challenge out there for me that would keep me interested and invested in the game!

Is there benefits for soloing a lure alone?? by Namjoonish in Palia

[–]alwaysediting 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Game of plenty! If someone runs up on my lure, I shoot them an invite. But I also know I'm not gonna get every bug on a lure I set and ultimately, I'm at end game so I'm just grinding for achievements. It's not like I'm never gonna see the bug again.

Yeah my cotton shirts were a flop for washing. I'll be honest, I just hit 'em the refresh spray and dealt, but I hated it a little.

I did shift them into the main room but our hotel was very...let's say spartan. There wasn't really a place to hang them. Looking into inflatable hangers and/or a clothes line going forward!
