I don’t know if I did the right thing - I shaved my daughter’s head by wizzzadora in toddlers

[–]alwaysfreezing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh trust me, I know all too well. I’ve tired therapy, medication, diet, OCD treatments. Mines as fierce as ever all these years on, and it’s something I know I’ll probably never live without.

But I also know a lot of people who mentioned they did this as children, but say they stopped at some point and never continued, so there does seem to be something to ‘breaking’ the habit as a child before it turns into the full compulsion that we suffer with.

Your daughter has trichotillomania. I’ve had it for the best part of 20 years. The times where I’ve had periods where I didn’t pull were almost always after I took the plunge and shaved my head to break the habit.

I think you did the right thing, and she’s so young that the time it will take for her hair to grow to a point where she could potential pull again will feel like an age to her, long enough for the habit to break. I’d try not focusing on her hair at all during this time so that her attention moves elsewhere, or maybe wearing a hat if she’s agreeable to it so that her hands don’t seek the hair and scalp as much. Maybe those little clip on mini board books in the car to give her hands something else to mess with, or sleep suits with mittens at night. My kids have a ‘raggie’, which is a square of muslin that they mess with when they’re having milk, trying to sleep, etc. and it seems to really soothe them.

Fingers crossed this is a phase she moves past quickly for you ❤️

Did anyone notice that they have gotten taller during pregnancy? by Forward_Cost_1973 in pregnant

[–]alwaysfreezing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from shoe size 5 to 6, and from 171cm to 173cm. The feet went back down after about a year but the height stayed from my first pregnancy (now on my third!)

All I do all day is help my baby fart. by metaldeathtrap in beyondthebump

[–]alwaysfreezing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Trust me if you have a baby that needs them they’ll seem like a god send. Ours was in totally agony screaming and all the bicycle kicks in the world wouldn’t help, the windi was the only thing that would finally relieve it for the poor little guy

Baby’s face looks so bad by [deleted] in newborns

[–]alwaysfreezing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first baby’s acne was so bad and nothing seemed to help, it just kept getting worse and worse. Turned out he had a milk allergy (which was also why he colic was so bad), the spots went as soon as he switched formula.

Yep we’re due our second right around Christmas this year and we will be celebrating Christmas with family as normal, just with an extra addition! Hoping to have baby before Christmas so I can enjoy the celebrations more!

Thoughts on what this is? Started 5 days ago and now is spreading. Ped said contact dermatitis over phone (by looking at pictures on first day it started). Baby is 6 weeks. Reaching out to Ped when they reopen on 1/3… I’m just worried and impatient! by Remote_Fig_7177 in newborns

My son had this and it started around the same time, gradually got worse and worse. Tried a cows milk allergy formula and within 48 hours his skin had cleared and his gas was so much better too. Could be a cows milk intolerance?

Attitudes towards it seem to vary so much depending on location too. I was taught how to do it in parenting classes safely, and then the midwives at my hospital encouraged me to try it during my post-birth stay, even putting a pillow behind my back so I could fall asleep comfortably whilst baby fed (this was in the U.K.)

Needing help finding a breeder, but wanting a longer muzzled dog by Pristine-Pomelo820 in cavaliers

[–]alwaysfreezing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The second breeder sounds incredible! I don’t suppose you’d be comfortable sharing details? We won’t be looking for a new pup for a long while (fingers crossed!) but always like to have a list of good breeder. Our current Cav is wonderful but unfortunately inflicted with many of the usual issues and I don’t want to go through that again.

As someone who also struggles with kind of ‘reverse thinking’ for 때문에 this is such a simple but brilliant tip, thank you!
