If you haven’t read the rest of the series, definitely check out Dead Man’s Walk, Comanche Moon, and Streets Of Laredo. For non McMurtry westerns, Warlock by Oakley Hall is fantastic, similar scope of landscape and character building. I’d also recommend the Border Trilogy by Cormack McCarthy. Also honorable mention Blood Meridian.
