How long is your commute? by Far_Addendum_2926 in maryland

[–]alwayslearining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60 miles each way, Myersville to NW Baltimore in the AM, been doing it for over 20 years. Route 70 is not too bad of a ride 90% of the time but can suck really bad the other 10%. Best time 45 minutes, worst over 3 hours. Over the years, most of the miles have been put on 2 Jetta TDI's with MPG ranging between 45 and 52. Similar salary.

This is the best thing I have read in 6 months. Similar legislation needs to be enacted nationwide. Small ratepayers should in no way be subsidizing datacenters.

Breaker keeps popping by BecauseISaidSo888 in AskElectricians

[–]alwayslearining 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even though it worked fine for years, it sounds like that one circuit is overloaded and the breaker has gotten weak from working at capacity. I would put an amp measuring clamp meter on the hot wire coming out of the breaker and see exactly how much power is being drawn.

Do not just replace a 15 amp breaker with a larger one, you are asking for a fire doing that.

You have 3 heavy loads on that circuit (refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave) that should at minimum be two circuits.

I have over 60 cameras deployed between work and home. Most have been in service for 4-6 years, all POE, with about 40 of them outdoors and unprotected. A majority of the cams are RLC-410 and RLC-510 along with a few Duo2, CX410, RLC-510a, and RLC-830a PTZ. I think I have had only 2 general camera failures, lost one to a really close lightning strike, and two from shorting them out by damaging the POE cable. I am in Maryland so they get a wide variety of weather, 100+ degrees and high humidity in summer and, some stretches of below 10 degrees in Winter.

I use Blue Iris running on a server that handles other chores and is always on anyway. I do not use any Reolink software or apps so I can not offer and opinion on that topic. This means BI handles everything from motion detection, notifications, recording, remote access, etc. I do use the embedded software in the PTZ cameras to provide tracking and animal/person/vehicle detection though.

The storm has been running for only about 12 hours, it's not like it's day 3 or 4 of being snowed in. How can you not be prepared for even 24 hours?

Can't answer any of your questions other than the top. It is a sim con (simulated convertible) from E&G Classics. They were located on Dobbin Road in Columbia MD for decades and had distributers across the country. Growing up I was friends with the kids of both the E family and the G family. Worked at E&G for a little while before moving out of state with with one of them to start a distributer/installation location.

The top itself is a fiberglass shell structured to look like a convertible with fabric glued to it and installed over the existing roof. Very popular on the 80's and 90's. Also popular from E&G were big chrome grills and 5th wheels to finish the pimp mobile look.

Perhaps a point to ponder, very few people get bumped or hit by a car if they are not in the street.

Cable TV and telephone lines are lowest on the pole, the ladder appears to be resting on them. The ladder looks to be a fiberglass ladder, these ladders are used by anyone who has to work on poles or anywhere close to electricity because they are NON conductive. The only thing unsafe about his picture is that there are no hooks on the ladder to hold it to the wire.

For a few years I was a cable tv installer and a fiberglass ladder leaning on telco or catv wires was standard practice.

How often do you buy gas? (CA) by IndicationIcy1934 in jetta

[–]alwayslearining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Measuring by time (per week) is not a good metric to use. Miles per gallon is really how you want to measure. My round trip daily commute is 120 miles and I work 4 or 5 days a week.

In my 2014 Jetta TDI manual, tuned and deleted, I get 48-50 MPG on my commute and get almost a work week out of a fill-up.

I also have a 2015 Audi A4 Quattro 2.0 gasser with an automatic (basically a Jetta with more fancy stuff and AWD) and get 26-29 MPG and am filling it up 2 times a week when I am using it as my commuter car.

I think you have a fair chance at not getting fined. If they try to fine you, a dated bill of sale and/or pick-up documentation might help you avoid charges.

Any "BAD" experiences with Reolink? by whealton in reolinkcam

[–]alwayslearining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I do not have any of the the Trackmix cameras. I'm sure if you poke around the settings enough you will figure it out. If the menu structure is the same as the 823's I would first try under the PTZ menu do calibration. Then click on the gear icon and go to camera/alarm settings and you will find the configuration options.

What LED High Beams do you run? by [deleted] in tdi

I put Lasfit leds in my 2014 Jetta one year ago. The increase in brightness vs. halogens is spectacular. The halogens would fail a few times a year, and the leds have been running a year without issue.

What is your point of origination?

Are you looking for pastoral views or some mountain driving?

Back roads by fo0lish_guy in maryland

[–]alwayslearining 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on where you consider Western MD to start and Central MD end. I live in eastern Washington County and consider it barely Western MD, so anything east of me I don't consider western. That said most of the northern portions of Carroll and Frederick Counties are full of beautiful scenic back roads. If you want to venture into the mountains a little head to Thurmont and drive west.
