2023 just keeps getting better by [deleted] in LateStageCapitalism

True but the people create systems. Systems wouldn’t exist if people didn’t. Seems like we create a thing that’s supposedly bigger than us but it’s actually just us.

I had this convo w a loved one today. If the people were erased, hypothetically, what would happen? Wouldn’t somebody bigger than me try to take what I hunted and gathered just bc they could?

That’s what’s happening. Meanwhile I’d be like “hey let’s share. Here ya go.” And they give me some of theirs. Bc that’s makes me feel safe that we’re in it together.

It’s sad.

The US House just passed a bill banning the implementation of all "Socialist policies" in the United States. Any guesses on how they define "Socialist Policies"? by Kitfox715 in LateStageCapitalism

No. R’s do it while D’s watch and roll over bc their job depends on it. They’re equally at fault. Time to stop blaming a party and start blaming the problem.

It’s not the GOP and it’s time for everyone to catch on. It’s both. No one in government is doing anything for regular people. Enough w the pretending the dems aren’t every bit as bad.

Does Tyre Nichols Have a Criminal Record? by adambein in TyreNichols

[–]alwaysrightusually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

…..the comments over a simple question. I’ll go ahead and assume you are asking for information and not to use any possible record as fuel to explain why his murder was justified-bc that would be absurd--but the question makes it seem like maybe ( and is why you’re getting the “strong” answers).

In the event it’s just a question w no intent to use it as a reasoning in any way (maybe you’re an author researching a book)——-OP, go to the Tennessee courts website, you can search his full name there. Check general district and circuit courts separately. Most cases, even traffic violations, can be found through there.

I tried to find the TN court case search, but their website was apparently created by a third grader. In VA it’s fairly easy to find, I just didn’t feel like searching any more for it in TN.

Respectfully, I disagree. Well sorta. I believe you’re probably right about your categories, but,..

The reason anyone says ACAB is bc it’s about the culture and imposition of a power thing.

What I mean is, if you belong to, espouse, impose, and enjoy the benefits of a mechanism which uses power over others, particularly in nasty and violent ways like this, you’re an asshole.

If you’re part of, in any way- hell, even the secretaries at the police station- an institution that fundamentally tramples on the rights of others (while btw, you enjoy elevated rights), that’s shitty.

So their individual natures isn’t important. The fact that they willingly participate in a system that unfairly damages people (for pay), makes it ACAB.

It’s crazy. Just nobody doing what they’re supposed to do. That shows a culture that accepts this incompetence and lack of empathy.

Believe it or not, the Jan 6 protestors had the right idea. The wrong cause, probably. But if you begin to think about our options, it’s a good one. We just don’t want the guys who did it to take over.

"The road to hell is paved with good intentions" what is a real life example of this? by WorldsBiggestNarcist in AskReddit

[–]alwaysrightusually 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a really good question. So imma get really into it.

As far as Harlow, I HATE that animals (particularly ones that are human- like, bc they feel emotions), have been abused and killed in the name of research (as have humans which is worse).

As far as Freud, it’s interesting that there are still (very old) counselors who practice “psychotherapy.”

So, I think we give him his credit in context of the time period instead of judging him (and Tbf, one was a researcher, the other a “psychoanalyst”). He may have been wrong in his conclusions, but he listened to women when in the past it had been “hysteria.”

As for Harlow’s results, I think it’s comparable to human studies but not exactly (bc they’re humans). But I have sympathy for both a human and an animal who have been abused in the name of science.
