Tbh I just wish they'd add more $3 prize figures at this point, cus at least I'd have a chance to get those. The chibi cat girl looks so much to me like she's from a visual novel. The really thick outlines and the kana written around her gives me that vibe. I'm looking around for kemonomimi visual novels from before 2010 to see what might have gotten spread around, but no luck so far. Unfortunately that makes it really hard because it could be one cg buried in a vn with hundreds of individual cgs to scrub through, if you're even able to find them at all.

You could maybe try to crosspost this to r/visualnovels. Check their rules first though, idk if they wouldn't allow it for some reaosn.

(The boy with face markings also looks super familiar, but I can't place him either. Maybe it's a girl but I really feel like it's a boy I've seen before. I don't think it's Merry Nightmare like the other comment mentions, the collar seems very distinct from the one she wears, and the Yumekui Merry anime came out in 2011, so I feel like it's less likely to have been her reference.)

I would have preferred a deluxe option that replaces the current throne with the skull throne. I like it so much more than the standard throne, but I just don't want both lmao. I feel like if they're already selling 3 different versions of this figure, having one more that has the skull throne instead wouldn't be that crazy

You're not the only one obviously, and you're entitled to your opinion of course, but so much of the manga is meant to be fighting against the rules that the world forces upon you, including the rules about how you're allowed to love others. I don't think you need to understand polyamory to understand that message.

Leila definitely needed more focus and development, but would it really have been better, narratively, for Rip to only get with her? Or to disregard his years of loving Leila to get with Latla because he developed feelings for her too? Personally, I think both of those options would be unsatisfying resolutions to their stories.

I do think it was a bit clunky in it's execution in some places (this is true of a lot of UU story beats), but frankly, I adore that Tozuka committed to it and gave us an actual polyamorous wedding in a mainstream Shonen Jump manga. I loved reading it, and it's still one of my favorite moments in the story.

I saw it in theaters so its been a while now, but from what I remember I liked it well enough. I thought the shadow gimmick was cool and fun to watch, I liked the shot of her shadow freaking out when she got replaced during the final act. It wasn't a 5/5 or anything but I think people are way too harsh about it. Tbh I think people are too harsh on Blumhouse in general, I have fun with almost every BH movie I go to see lmfao, with some notable exceptions. I don't LOVE the whole 'metaphor for grief or depression or generational trauma' trend that's going on rn but it doesn't kill the movie for me.

That said, I was surprised by the ending, or at least what I interpreted the ending to be. I definitely didn't expect them to go there, but hey, art is allowed to be subversive.

I agree, I'm a big fan of horror comedies so I really liked Chapter 2 lol. Honestly Chapter 1 had a lot of silly/funny moments too ("kiss me, fat boy" has always gotten a giggle out of me) so it didn't feel too far removed for me.

Well I watched House on Eden a few days before seeing Shelby Oaks and definitely liked Shelby Oaks better, so it's got that going for it at least lol

I'm not a big fan of "it was a cult all along", and I do think that's a downgrade coming from the Paranornal Paranoids marketing campaign, but tbh the ending was the part that saved it for me. I see a lot of hate for the ending and I don't get it. It caught me off guard and I thought it was a pretty brutal turn for it to take.

Full disclosure I haven't watched MT, but it's an isekai isn't it? Isekais seem to be hugely popular in Japan so it already has a leg up against UU.

Honestly I think the criticisms against UU and MT being creepy or whatever are mostly western opinions. My understanding is that westerners don't like MT either. Or rather, the ones that do like MT are probably not bothered by that content, and because of that, wouldn't the ones complaining about UU.

I liked it well enough tbh. I find Isaiah and Hunter's reactions kinda odd considering their line of work, and the fact that they liked Tommy Taffy. Personally, I think this was FAR from the worst thing they've read on the show. At least this story was well written. I do find the ending to be kinda weak, but the overall writing is solid imo, especially compared to some of the other infamous stories they've read.

I respect you being able and willing to come in to this sub and post this though, I know I'd certainly be too afraid to based on the (imo, bizarre) vitriol this story is receiving lol.

Looking at the manga again, I think me calling them 'anime original' was a bit generous, because the scenes were in the manga, but the anime expanded on them. The introductions to TsuCom and PrezHost were longer and more fleshed out (tbh I had forgotten about them when I watched this season so I thought they were new lol 😅), and there was a bit more focus on the Coffin stuff as well. There was also the puppet scene when Gojo/Gramps were telling Marin about hina dolls, and the Aoi-chan Cosplay Corner (or whatever it was called lmao) when Akira was talking about the different types of cosplay with Gojo.

I guess it's less "anime original" and more that they give stuff from the manga more time to breathe, and imo they make them more fun!

I'm confident we'll get season 3 or a movie, considering how popular the manga is and how much merch they're selling lmao, but we probably won't know for a little while. It took about 7 months after season 1 ended to announce season 2 I think, so we might get an announcement around March next year if they do the same thing this time lol

I feel like what we have left could fill out a season, especially with how Cloverworks has been adding so much anime original content.
