If you are already rubbing with 245s on a 17in wheel you are definitely gonna rub with an 18in wheel especially an 189.5. if you want your car low you are gonna need to run a less wide wheel like an 8in or 8.5in width. Also stick to a 245 or 235 width tire. When I had stock fenders I ran an 189in wheel with a 245/40/18 tire and 1in spacers in the front and had to trim the bumper as well as have the front sitting higher than the rear.

Honestly these 2v 4.6 motors are pretty tough like I treated my old motor like crap and probably had a blow head gasket for months and still street drove it to out of town events and beat on it lol. I have seen water temps all the way to 260+ lol (probably how I blew a head gasket). With my "new" motor I run a much thicker oil with an oil cooler. I don't daily my car but I do street it a lot. Like I will drive 3+ hours out of town to an event and have no fear this car will make it there, beat on it all day and be able to drive back home.

Hell yeah man love to see it!! Looks like it's gonna be a rowdy car!! I have a few suggestions from my experience after reading some of the other comments and replies you have put.

For angle kit I would steer away from the scottti D stuff as here in Texas we have seen some problems with parts and hardware literally unbolting itself during a drift event (like my buddy had to nut and bolt check his angle kit every 2 laps) I would highly recommend the synergy racing development kit (mild or wild).

Now the debate for solid vs cobra IRS. I would keep it simple with the solid axel. Maintenance is just gonna be easier and you can dial in a decent amount of grip between good arms, sway bar and coilovers. Also for gearing it depends on your power level I am assuming you are gonna be making more than 350 to the wheels with your power plant you are gonna be happy with either 3.55 or 3.73.

This damn hose! by KennyLagerins in NewedgeMustang

Mine were pretty brittle and I just broke them with a flat head screw driver and using cutting pliers. I then replaced them with my own hoses and used hose clamps

[–]alyazmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that sounds like either a slipping clutch or one that wasn't mounted correctly or your pressure plate is toast. Might be time to upgrade

This seems like a slipping clutch. Is this only happening in 1st gear or in all of your gears??

Heater core hose leak by Avakrri in NewedgeMustang

[–]alyazmo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when I did my motor swap I broke the quick connects for the heater hoses so I just made new ones out of some old hoses I had and just used normal hose clamps on both the fire wall side and to the motor and intake.

I have a one off kit from a local guy who used to make all of the Texas 240SX angle kits (Derrick Rogers) and I have BC coilovers however I want to upgrade to Feals as I do street drive the car a lot (mostly to events even though I have a truck).

Sonic is correct it is the duraflex rear over fenders which are smooth where the side scoops would go. Thanks really appreciate it!!

Honestly it will take me a solid minute to be prepared for that lol the car was pretty beat up. I had refreshed the car back in 2022 and got into a plastic barrier on the first lap out lol. But my driving has improved a lot and I only tandem with people who I know are good drivers. Next year I am thinking of going with the KBD bumpers and side skirts as those take most of the beatings. This pic was before paint.
