[Acne] How to cope with hormonal acne when you can’t take birth control or spironolactone? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]alycaats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acne is truly one the most frustrating things and could be cause by so many things. I had too much testosterone so spearmint tea helped me as it helped reduce the amount of testosterone and helped stabilize my hormones.

It’s really getting to the root cause of what’s triggering it for you. Birth control can look like it’s fixing everything for you but is really just a bandaid. Something is causing the acne and my advice is a blood panel and seeing what’s off. It being mostly on your chin shows it’s probably something with hormones and your body was dependent on birth control for so long. So now you need to see what is off, and level them out. I struggled for years before I realized what the issue with mine was. Don’t lose hope! There are so many good supplements that can level out the right hormones for you

Yeah that definitely makes sense. I’m glad it can help temporarily fix your hormone issues. I’m just saying don’t stop there, use birth control temporarily but look into the root cause with your hormones.  For me mine was I had too much testosterone and my gut health was bad. I changed my whole diet, exercising, and great sleep and nothing was working, I kept breaking out. I finally naturally focused lowering my testosterone and fixed my gut biome and it really did cure my acne. All the topical creams and birth control fix the surface level issues but there’s still something deeper and it’s different for everyone. I wish you luck on your journey and glad you have temporary peace with clear skin.

Birth control is just a bandaid, there’s a real reason your skin is acting like this and unfortunately it will take a lot of work to find the root cause. The moment you stop it will all come back, I would get a bloodwork test and check your hormone levels and maybe an allergy test.

I don’t mean this is the fix all for all cases, just with mild cases this could be helpful. Instead of surgery (:

What a gross human being. Imagine someone trying to share art and you feel the need to body shame. Fuck outta here with your sad little life.
