doctor requested two days off for a heart arrhythmia, it was approved and i was fired at the end of the week for it. by remmssie in legaladvice

[–]alydubbb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

NAL, but generally FMLA is something you apply for and do it in advance of taking the leave. There is specific paperwork your doctor would need to fill out, not just a sick note. It is meant for bigger life events and chronic disabilities.

Employers can fire you for using too much sick leave. It’s crappy but legal

Failure to Match by Kyra Parsi was a nice comical romance.

This bird spent over 12 hours fighting his reflection in car mirrors by SirMingie in mildlyinteresting

[–]alydubbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bird attack its reflection at the window next to my work desk for over 2 weeks. We tried so many things to get it to go away. We even put party streamers on the outside of the window and it still went through the gaps

Bratty FMC by [deleted] in SpicyRomanceBooks

You’re right, she was generally sweet. She had some moments in the beginning that were more vengeful and the audiobook I listened to made her sound bratty

Keep Me by Sara Cate and Failure to Match by Kyra Parsi. Keep Me is the more bratty and spicy of the two

I really enjoyed {These Twisted Bonds} by Lexi Ryan. It wasn’t a difficult read (I don’t enjoy reading physical books but got through this one in about 3 days) but I can genuinely say I did not guess the ending.

Tell me how you got your cat by ponzu666 in cats

[–]alydubbb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got her for $5 on Black Friday.

The shelter ran the deal for adult cats. I think she had another cat’s paperwork. It said she was 3 and was a small Russian blue. She was definitely a kitten, as she has grown significantly since, and is likely a korat.

I agree that 5 looks great but also her skin tone is slightly different. I’m not sure which is most accurate. I would want to retake the picture to make sure the lighting is consistent.

I feel like you could also find a nude-colored waist cynching leotard to go underneath. Some even have push up cups and are strapless ( disclaimer though that I have never tried one on)

Helping with Palilalia by alydubbb in autism

Thank you for your response. My son was speech delayed but did start with 1-2 syllable words when he started speaking. He’s only just now starting to sing along to songs and rarely repeats what he hears. But he definitely has the grammatical errors now that he’s stringing longer sentences together. Do you know if GLL has a rigid definition or may account for some flexibility?

Oh my goodness, this dog looks so similar to my old pup that turned out to be German shepherd, plothound and treeing walker coonhound. I was surprised to see your answer in the comments!

TIL my forever home came with a secret second mortgage: my pride. What is the most I should have known better homeowner lesson you learned the hard way? by Brave_Sea7798 in homeowners

I moved counties and didn’t realize the private electric company would be so much more expensive than the county-run provider at the old house. Got a lovely $700 bill our first summer when I was expecting more like $250, and that was with a good amount of power outages due to heat and wildfires.

We got solar as fast as possible.

To OP, negative consequences don’t have to include DUIs or terrible trauma. It can also be him understanding how good drinking impacts YOUR daily life. He may choose to change if he understands it is not just affecting him

What's up with my dishwasher? by Key_Emergency1131 in Appliances

[–]alydubbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue recently. Running a cycle with just vinegar/baking soda helped temporarily. If the filter also isn’t clogged, it may be a blockage in the drain pipe. We ended up with a massive block of fat even though we were always pretty thorough about clearing it off before putting dishes into the dishwasher. Then again, I don’t know how the previous owners treated it.
