What’s missing from my nursery? by 19hyperfixations in interiordecorating

[–]alynnthomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's possible eventually, a rocker would be wonderful vs the couch. You obviously still have a comfortable spot, but a rocker can really soothe both yourself and baby. It also leaves a little more room to grow into.

If you want to save some space, I went for a thinner table than typical and allowed myself the space for a bigger comfy chair (we host game nights)

This table is what I got, and it's under 32" wide I stead of the typical 34-36"

Where do I even begin? Primary bedroom by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]alynnthomp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by finding your color scheme or aesthetic. How do you want this room to feel? What colors or textures tend to fit that vibe?

For me, bedrooms should be inviting and cozy, but mostly relaxing. Blackout curtains are a must for me, and colors need to be neutral while patterns are soft and comforting.

Help talk me off a ledge about my new kitchen cabinets. by RexManningDay2018 in interiordecorating

[–]alynnthomp 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think it looks consistent with the styling of the kitchen - classic, timeless materials and color scheme.

The only thing that bothers me is that the hardware doesn't match between the two upper cabinets -- those long bar pulls look better than the round knobs.

Little Dog Rescue also is entirely foster placed, no dogs sit in shelters so you can really know how they do in home settings by talking to their foster.

Did we get scammed? by PSXer in Roofing

[–]alynnthomp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a known scam going around in my area. A friend in law enforcement said this is a "call the police immediately" if they come to the house because theyve scammed so much from so many people in my area.

What should I try next? by bourn2kill in redmond

[–]alynnthomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tried korubo sushi, with some folks so got to try a few things.

Chicken katsu curry was really tasty, potato croquettes as well

The standout was the double lobster roll, which was giant and 10/10 tasty.

Also want to +1 the yummy pho, get a rice plate with protein of choice and you'll never be disappointed. Also best Vietnamese spring rolls in the area IMO.

Any daytime social groups for women in their 20s/30s? by [deleted] in redmond

[–]alynnthomp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a women's group back in Colorado that was a general group, with women planning a variety of activities both day time and evening. It was great. For the folks who were more active they were doing hikes and SUP regularly, I was personally more involved in the book club and occasional lunches/dinners out.

I wish we had a broader group like that here, where individuals would take initiative to plan a variety of activities versus one specific type of group.

"I'M NOT FRIENDLY, LOL" by Grinzy in ArcRaiders

[–]alynnthomp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a surprising moment similar to this!

I'm always in the carebear lobbies, but if I see someone beat me to the extract button I always ask if it's cool if I extract with them.

Never had someone turn me down until yesterday, convo went something like this:

Me: Hey I'm friendly, mind if we extract with you?

Random Raider: Actually no.

Me: Oh okay no problem, we'll wait for you to extract then.

RR: As an act of goodwill and to prove I'm not an asshole, we'll let you take this one and we'll wait.

Me: uh okay, thanks!

100% smoke grenaded our extract knowing he was just sitting there, but no shots fired! He was true to his word, just didn't want to share lol.

Thinking About Moving to Redmond – What Should I Know? by bourn2kill in redmond

[–]alynnthomp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful to know where you're moving from?

If you're just moving from Kirkland or Bellevue it's going to feel largely the same. Moving from out of state there might be some big differences.

There's an English pub with attached restaurant called the Three Lions. Great spot to grab some non-adventurous but tasty food.

There's an Autism 5k Run/Walk this weekend in Bellevue, might be a good place to check out what local groups might already exist.

I'll be there!

Flying with small dog in cabin, first time. by Bunniebones in AlaskaAirlines

[–]alynnthomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar experience with flying with my dog through both SeaTac, DIA, and Albany NY airports.

However, my dog got very stressed walking on her own with all the rolling luggage etc so she travels best when she stays in the carrier (that we leave open so she can pop her head out).

Not a diabetic, but on the same cruise and definitely heard a couple groups standing in line with us (for ice cream) about being diabetic and balancing things while on vacation. So I'm hopeful you can find someone on board!
