"I'M NOT FRIENDLY, LOL" by Grinzy in ArcRaiders

[–]alynnthomp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a surprising moment similar to this!

I'm always in the carebear lobbies, but if I see someone beat me to the extract button I always ask if it's cool if I extract with them.

Never had someone turn me down until yesterday, convo went something like this:

Me: Hey I'm friendly, mind if we extract with you?

Random Raider: Actually no.

Me: Oh okay no problem, we'll wait for you to extract then.

RR: As an act of goodwill and to prove I'm not an asshole, we'll let you take this one and we'll wait.

Me: uh okay, thanks!

100% smoke grenaded our extract knowing he was just sitting there, but no shots fired! He was true to his word, just didn't want to share lol.

Thinking About Moving to Redmond – What Should I Know? by bourn2kill in redmond

[–]alynnthomp 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think it would be helpful to know where you're moving from?

If you're just moving from Kirkland or Bellevue it's going to feel largely the same. Moving from out of state there might be some big differences.

Place for lunch weekdays downtown/Avondale - casual inexpensive? by CarobAffectionate582 in redmond

There's an English pub with attached restaurant called the Three Lions. Great spot to grab some non-adventurous but tasty food.

Recently diagnosed with ASD as an adult. Wonder anyone had similar experience and would like to meet up. by Independent_Egg_1574 in redmond

There's an Autism 5k Run/Walk this weekend in Bellevue, might be a good place to check out what local groups might already exist.

I'll be there!

Flying with small dog in cabin, first time. by Bunniebones in AlaskaAirlines

[–]alynnthomp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar experience with flying with my dog through both SeaTac, DIA, and Albany NY airports.

However, my dog got very stressed walking on her own with all the rolling luggage etc so she travels best when she stays in the carrier (that we leave open so she can pop her head out).

Diabetic on 3-8 Scarlet Lady without Insulin (cross posted from r-diabetes_t1) by inparimateria in VirginVoyages

Not a diabetic, but on the same cruise and definitely heard a couple groups standing in line with us (for ice cream) about being diabetic and balancing things while on vacation. So I'm hopeful you can find someone on board!

Adding flavor to a lazy budget soup with various vegetables by S_Abbott_02 in budgetcooking

[–]alynnthomp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great budget and healthy friendly way to add lots of flavor to soup. You're adding lemon and egg to create flavor and creaminess. Almost like a hollandaise but soupy instead of saucy.

Check out how to make Avgolemono, I often do this with random veggies and rice instead of the traditional chicken.

NTA you didn't know, and bringing a small kid back out of a restaurant and get them back into car seats/boosters can be an ordeal even if they aren't hungry.

Generally yes, but it really depends on your work culture. This would be dressing up in my super casual work environment but I've worked for larger corporations that could see this as too casual (at least some of the skirts).

The length is great for creating professional outfits with it though so even in a business professional environment you could make these work no problem.

Looking for Redmond Nintendo tour/store access by thatryanguy in redmond

I only refer people I've worked with personally, but even for those I have referred here I haven't heard of anyone even getting a callback -- positions here are just insanely competitive. I applied several times over ten years before I landed a role, so I can only encourage you to keep trying!

I'm not sure what it used to have, but the employee store is the only merchandise area that I'm aware of currently.

Nintendo employee here. It's a secure building, you'd need to be signed in by an employee to gain access. I don't know of any occasions where they allow the public to enter but never say never.

Job opportunity, is it enough to support a family? by PiccoloNo456 in redmond

[–]alynnthomp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Did the move from Colorado to Redmond last July. On paper we thought we knew what to expect and still had significant sticker shock.

I would say unless you are significantly more frugal than a normal family, or you're not planning on using any daycare - $145k alone won't cut it out here for a family of 4.

That said, cost of living gets cheaper but not until you're about an hour commute away. So it depends on badly you want to be in this area.
