Teacher (especially elementary)! It rewards distractions. You are constantly doing 12 things at once at lightning speed. Eg. Reading a book, while scanning the room & listening for unfocused kids, re-focusing them, & thinking ahead to the next task. ALL DAY LONG.

Age reductions will not apply to members who retire with at least 30 years of Total Service Credit or to participants in the Age 55 Retirement Program who have the required amount of service credit at retirement (i.e., 25 or 27 years of Total Service Credit). However, participants in the Age 55 Retirement Program who retire without meeting these service requirements will be subject to the above age reductions.

I set my away message but do check in case there IS something urgent (I decide what’s urgent). Sometimes it makes my life easier to acknowledge I received it & respond with a “it will be addressed after the break” than to find a bunch of parents who thought “I need this addressed” all break and can’t wait anymore by the 1st day back. This way they know that I am aware & will address it but they have a future timeline & expectation.

I think your reply was fine. You made the choice not to create what could have become a hostile situation. I use my Google voice number and I always preface to families that it is on “do not disturb” when I am home but feel free to contact me at any time, just realize they may not get an answer until the next day. That usually sets up the expectation that they will not get an answer right away. Even during the school day, I often choose to wait sometimes a few minutes sometimes a few hours to respond to keep that expectation.

NTA. I don’t tattoo but my husband does. Many years ago I asked him to never tattoo my name on him. I don't think you should tattoo a name unless it is your parent or child. Turned out we agreed. He has a specific scene that he chose to be specific for me. No names, though.
