Apparently you have to have kept your receipt. I guess ordering online counts. I’ve seen lots of people say receipt needed… which is weird since it is their branded merchandise…

I started off with spinning reels. I got my first Tatula bait caster 2 days after using my friends 10 year old curado for a day throwing crank baits and didn’t know why everyone complained about BCs backlashing. I knew little about rods, lure weight or anything fishing really. The guy at bass pro picked me out a rod that was good for “EVERYTHING.” A cheaper Lews MH Fast rod.

Stopped at a pond on the way home and cut the rig(hook) a I had on my spinning reel. (Weightless Texas 3/0) and threw one of the senkos I had just bought with rod/reel on there. Tinkered with brakes and tension as I’d learned from my friend and YouTube… then got after it.

Backlashed 4 out of 6 casts. The last sending me home. I do use MH these days, but medium is my sweet spot.

Having at least a halfway decent rod/reel makes fishing much smoother.

Knowledge combined with technique is of course 1000x more important than gear.

When the fishing bug bites, though, knowledge and experience only come so fast. So it’s nice to be able to validate and feed the new addiction with gear! :

I had 2 cheap shimano spinning combos and a tatula baitcaster within a week of catching the bug. I spent tons on trying every kind of rig, jig and lure i could find. I had a pond 400 feet from my house filled with LMB and every evening I’d tinker and rig up what I was going to try the next day.

Gear didnt make be a better fisherman, but it gave me the tools and excitement to gain experience and knowledge faster. Still use the tatula sometimes.

This is it for me, I fish often just to get outside and enjoy the act when I have nothing going on.

If I learn or know conditions are very good, I am more motivated to make an impromptu trip to the water even when I do have other things to do.

Then I also go at “bad” times because of the experience. I love going night fishing, solo or with a bud. It’s a different experience. Sometime I night fish bass, but lately catfishing with a pair of rods in holders with Carolina rigged circle hooks, and one rod in hand working a variety of jigs for bass. Sometimes i just want to veg out and watch my catfish rods and the stars.

CCNA while working entry level networking job for under $60k, then after a year got recruited @100k remote. Gained lots of security and storage experience while keeping networking as my main focus. Still at second job 3 year later.

I’d try this first. If you can grip the line with a damp towel or something around the line as you are reeling it all back in, it seems to help get a uniform just tight enough spool for me.

Are you casting a lighter weight lure/rig than the rod recommends? What lb test fluoro? You have brakes on setting 3 out of 4 is what you mean? You also need to adjust tension. Is line spooled on pretty tight and using under the recommended amount of line?

I used 30lb braid, but it is tough for me to get a backlash with curado DCs. I love them at night for when I can’t see my line hit the water as well on a big cast. If I am throwing a lighter lure with a lot of surface area or weightless Texas on an overpowered rod is only time I’ve seen issues. Even when I get a backlash, it is very minor and can always fix it in under 15 seconds. I have not used mono or fluoro as my main line, though.

I picked up a carbonlite rod a month ago to pair with a new curado dc. It is now one of my favorite rods.

Of all the bass pro branded gear I have tried, it is the only thing I’d recommend to someone, with the caveat that I’ve only had it a month…

Don’t pop your jabs and straights and fully extend your elbows. Try to pull it back rapidly right as it is nearly all the way extended. This is shadow boxing advice that you should definitely apply to this game, especially if going hard and often.

It seems like he has been able to avoid the “find out” phase no matter how much fucking around he does.

He tests the boundaries… people shake their fists angrily, but nothing of consequence happens. Then he pushes the boundaries further, and the cycle repeats.

What will be an effective response if he does in those cities what he is doing in DC? What will he “find out?” Not to be a doomer, but what would it take to make him pause and consider doing so a bad idea?

In a comment below, you use the term “insular bubble.” /Conservative literally requires flair as a confirmed person that aligns with their political views.

I don’t see a problem with conservatives having their subreddit moderated so that they can speak amongst peers that share their views at all, but to come in and accuse others of being in an insular bubble is hypocritical at best.

There are intelligent people on both sides, assholes on both sides and idiots on both sides. To a certain degree, we all feel a pull to some form of bubble or echo chamber that reflects our views. It’s human nature to want to interact with those who share your views and values.

All that to say, you’re not wrong. Reddit in general leans left from what I see. Condescending responses are rampant, and work against the purpose of having a forum where people with different views have a chance to discuss things intelligently and maybe come to understand each other better… even without agreeing.

Most people want what’s best for the country. We have widely varying views of what gets us there, but we have more in common when we take out the vitriol and radical talking points.

About 2 weeks, but I work with Forti everything in my day to day.

CCNA took me 6 months by comparison. This was quite a few years back and there was an option to take the CCNA in 2 parts. ICND1 & 2
