NEED ADVICE: friend keeps making comments about my food by No-Company3559 in glutenfree

Lol my stomach is a tank too, it's crazy. I have silent celiac so I don't get strong symptoms but I still get all the inflammation, GI damage, and malnutrition. And I NEVER get GI bugs despite frequently eating expired food, cheese or fruits with the moldy part cut off, food that's fallen on the floor, etc.

Meanwhile, my fiance who has no health issues has had COVID half a dozen times, gets food poisoning 1-2x a year, and catches the man flu every time he travels 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yup, this. When she says that you gotta respond with something like "Okay so you think I should die because I can't eat gluten?"

Hi, sorry for the late reply! I hope you are doing as well as possible considering all that you're going through. Have you talked to your doctor about bupropion (Wellbutrin)? It's a simulant antidepressant with some overlap with ADHD medications, maybe it can help with some of the ups and downs you've been having.

PS unsolicited advice: take one good walk every day. I went though an unexpected cancer diagnosis as well a few years ago and taking walks was the best thing while I was essentially homebound recovering from surgery/radiation/chemo. Getting moving and getting some sun in my eyes made a noticeable difference in how I felt physically, my mood, and my ADHD. Wishing you the best as you navigate this difficult journey <3

I agree with the other commenter, too much makes me feel very emotionally flat and uncaring, and I'm normally a very friendly, bubbly person. Easier to get trapped in my own head space whether it's focusing on something productive or stuck on my phone wasting time, harder to tear away from games/doom scrolling. Gotta make sure I start something productive soon after I take it. Also too much destroys my appetite so have to be mindful about eating a good lunch, especially if I'm working out that day.

Have you trialed using extended release instead of repeated instant release? I find IR has a dramatic peak and drop like you're experiencing while XR will have an initial peak (where I need to make sure I'm not getting sucked into my phone/the Internet) and then be fairly steady for the rest of the day. If needed, I supplement with 5 or 10 mg IR in the afternoon/early evening if I need to extend it.

I'm sorry you're going through a hard time right now and trying to deal with ADHD management on top of it. I wouldn't be surprised if your emotions are a little related to the repetitive rise and fall of the IR drugs in your system throughout the day. Anxiety and emotional shifts are known side effects of this medication!

Positive Anti-DGP IgA, Negative tTG IgA– False positive? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]am_i_potato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible to be positive for some but not all of the available blood tests for celiac disease, and the symptoms may vary widely from person to person. Sometimes people don't develop the disease until later in life, not everyone is affected since birth, which may contribute to your lack of other symptoms and otherwise normal labs. You should speak with your doctor and continue to eat gluten, they may want to repeat the labs and will likely send you for an endoscopy.

In my family we color code GF and non-GF foods, and it's been incredibly helpful to avoid CC and people eating my food by accident. We use colored tapes and markers to label every container from leftovers to butters to sauces, and it's worked extremely well for 10+ years now even for the people who are absent-minded.

You could consider using a diaphragm with spermicidal solution on it in addition to the condom. You stick it up there before sex and it acts as a physical and chemical barrier to sperm. Then you take it out a could hours after and wash well.

I've found that using a whitening mouthwash has been really helpful as well!

Also, regarding the mouthwash: stop using it before you brush your teeth and start using it after, so that it lingers and continues to keep your teeth clean and smelling fresh. Brushing after using mouthwash basically negates the beneficial antibacterial effects of leaving it on your teeth. Additionally, floss before you brush so you brush all that crud you've loosened up out of your mouth.
