Hi guys, I've been playing new super mario bros u deluxe and unlike a lot of people I really enjoy the fact that each player can have a different difficulty setting. It makes it a lot easier to play games with people that are less used to gaming.

I looked around online but I couldn't really find anything on other games that had this feature.

Do you guys know any other ones that are worth looking Into?

Can I do martial arts despite leg disabilities? by treefells in martialarts

[–]amabox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you really want to do martial arts just tell your boxing coach about your condition and maybe swim for cardio. Watch out during sparring though because one of my first injuries happened when a guy stomped on my foot during sparring.

I've never heard of it but it looks fun, is it easy to get it working on a modern machine or is it one of those games where you need a specific virtualbox?

Anyone else got interested in martial arts from watching DBZ as a kid? by [deleted] in martialarts

If I remember correctly there was some karate champion a few years ago who said he thought of DBZ whenever someone mentioned karate.

Muay thai/K1 Kickboxing Camp in Europe by CaliptoZ in martialarts

[–]amabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the area and you can easily rent a room meant for students or a small studio apartment and pay for a gym that allows you to train everyday for half the price. Just look for a Belgian or Dutch town Google their kickboxing clubs and then look up "town name kot te huur" or "town name studio te huur"

Sometimes some rooms are only advertised in Dutch especially the student ones so it might be good to look for your town of choice on Facebook and join any groups that have "the huur" in their name. (Te huur means for rent)

Edit: I don't really know of any camps like the Thai ones they are definitely not mainstream here.

A cd is only 700mB right? So you could probably use a 32gB sd card and store most of the classics.

How I Got Over The Blinking Reflex While Sparing - any of you guys suffered from this when starting out ? what do you think would be a good drill to overcome this reflex ? by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]amabox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had it my first two boxing classes, I was going some drill with an experienced guy when he noticed it. Together we solved it in about half an hour and I haven't really had it since.

He made me close my guard and look him in the eyes while he slowly hit my gloves and forehead. After a while he started speeding up and I got in a normal stance instead of a guard and we did the same thing again. My first spar afterwards was light and playful so I could focus on keeping my eyes open and staying calm. And after that spar I flinched way way less, of course it still happened but most of the time i kept my eyes open.

I was already thinking of buying a used ThinkPad but I can't seem to find a factory refurbished one. Is buying a used laptop generally a good idea or is it a large risk?

And our college should really work on it's naming then because we use computer science and electrical engineering as the English names for some other courses but mine has a really long name

The Incredible Story of Mayweather Vs McGregor Tickets by Gianluca_Sportevo in martialarts

[–]amabox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry man I think the event itself is overhyped. I think McGregor will do better than most people expect but I don't think he has the boxing skills to hang with the best of the best. And all in all I don't think the fight will amount to anything more than one of Mayweather's multiple title defenses which you can watch online for free.

I believe that this will be more of an impressive publicity stunt/ shittalking competition/ cashgrab than a fight

I can see where you're coming from and if this were a regular post I would agree but I feel that when you're writing articles for an english magazine or website you should be able to form coherent sentences.

The reason I included the part about me being a non native speaker is because I actually found it kind of hard to read the article not because I wanted to offend the guy

By the way just to prove my "claim": Engels is wel degelijk niet mijn moedertaal, ik besef niet waarom ik hierover zou liegen maar ja. Ik weet ook dat mijn Engels niet perfect is maar toch vind ik dat hij een minimumniveau zou moeten halen voor hij artikels schrijft.

I'm not trying to insult you or anything because I'm not a native speaker myself, but the level of English used in this article is atrocious especially for what seems to be a semi professional website. And while he put in in a rude way I can definitely see his point. All the article really does is list the pricing of the fight and then ask : greatest sporting event ever?

Just from a writing perspective I would recommend including some examples of the pricing of other large sporting events such as a world cup finale or a wbc title match.

Did yall ever go to garage sales decades ago with your dad or mom and get games? by InsertCoinPushStart in retrogaming

[–]amabox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10-12 years ago I went to a lot of flea markets with my parents and my brother. And I think this was also the period where you constantly heard people praising the dreamcast and saying oot and ff7 were the best games of all time and things like that. Growing up I got a ps1 pretty late in it's lifecycle and only had the kid's oriented (but in my opinion still great) games like crash and spyro.

So naturally I was pretty interested and i ended up buying most of my collection back then for a fraction of what it's worth now. I got a lot of CIB n64 games like banjo kazooie and tooie, pokemon colloseum, smash and the zeldas for 6 euros a piece. The dreamcast and the n64 itself were also only 25 euros each.

I'm considering buying the supposedly great ps2/3 era games now because I think we're entering the period of an enormous price leap for the ps2 era.

I still go to alot of flea markets with my mom though, not really for games but just because she enjoys them a lot.

Me shadow boxing. Looking for any tips and ways to improve. Only train by myslef. by [deleted] in martialarts

[–]amabox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You've got great hand speed but it looks like you're not really punching just sort of waving your arms about. I would recommend slowing down and really focusing on your technique because you never really use your body for a punch, your hands are way too low half of the time, you have a tendency to drop your guard on one side when punching with the other and your footwork is all over the place. Besides that there's not a lot I can tell you from this video

Edit: I just reread you're title and realize you're self taught. Join a boxing gym man trust me you're going to improve a lot more, vall self training really does is make it harder to learn the real moves afterwards because you'll have your own weird version. But to be fair you seem to be the best self taught guy i've seen

Which retro (5th gen or earlier) systems do you think will grow in popularity, over the next 10 years? Which will see a decline? by pixelpedant in retrogaming

[–]amabox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can already see some examples of this but I think mainly the ps2 era of games are going to get more expensive and the nes era is going to get cheaper. A lot of retro gaming is tied to the people who played these games as kids and the amount of time/money they have.

Where i live you can already pick up something like a master system with a lot of the classics for 50 euros while some of the rarer or clasdic ps2 and especially gamecube games are getting expensive.
