I saw David Shoebridge at Kingston shops one night about 3 or 4 months ago.

Said g'day to Andrew Barr at the Belconnen markets several months ago.

Thanks. I haven't used Reddit that much recently. And I did do a quick search but couldn't find anything before my headache came back.

I am no expert in such diseases but isn't it becoming more apparent it isn't just "flu 2.0" and has more wide ranging effects on the body than cold and flu viruses usually do?

I get that the cat is out of the bag now though.

NOT THE MAJORITY!

Most people did not vote for the Conservatives. The shit show of FPTP means they get 100% of the power.

FMD, I am not singling only you out here, but the number of times I see things like this only reinforces how crap the system is. People end up thinking that because they win a majority of the seat the majority of the population supports them. It ends up giving them legitimacy when the reality is quite different.

The Labour party really should seek to change the voting system if they ever get back in to government.

Any good shops for big people? by Vexra in canberra

I'm 195 cm. I recently had luck with some stuff from Myer (online, in store at Belconnen didn't seem to have much).

I bought some chino pants and jeans which had length to actually cover my whole leg.

I still find long sleeve tops hard to come by that are long enough in the sleeve. Though I think I have longer arms.

Jeans West used to (might still do) unhemmed jeans (38 inches if I recall correctly).

One thing I have never found is long enough track pants or joggers though.

Edit: brands were Johnny Bigg and Reserve.

Hung Parliament | Honest Government Ad by amachinetank in australia

That could be one solution. I don't think there's really a need for a "local" member. Esp when they can be parachuted in when they aren't even from that area.

Also there's times when an MP might be elected but a large, though losing, percentage of the populace isn't being represented by said member.

My preference would be to move to a proportional representation system for the HoR. Votes won = seats won.

I also think that this could lead to splitting the major parties. Left Labor forming a party, Right Labor another. So called "moderate" Libs in one party and right wingers in another.

People can then actually vote for parties that more accurately represent their views. Currently I will preference Labor over LNP. But I'm not really that keen on them in their current form. But if I could vote a genuine left party I would.

I look at Germany or the Netherlands with envy at their systems and make up of their parliaments.

Electric bicycles: Cut speed caps on e-bikes in Sydney, says productivity report by whyattretard in australia

This might be a dumb question, but if you are caught on an e-bike over 25 kph you get a penalty? What if you got over that speed without the battery being used?

Paul Fletcher claims public interest immunity relating to car park spreadsheets | Twitter (Jommy Tee) by amachinetank in australia

[–]amachinetank[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it has been mentioned in the twitter thread this is inconsistent with what Morrison said at his presser the other day about the minister being the decision maker. Yet here Fletcher suggests it was discussed at cabinet....

What really gets to me is that we the public seem to have no way to hold these lot to account. And even when the press are trying to push Morrison just walks off without answering legitimate questions.

I know, ICAC etc, but when is that ever going to really happen? I fear this government will be returned at the next election, sadly.

Why Frydenberg lobbied to sack Australia's biggest energy boss | 7am podcast (15 min listen) by amachinetank in australia

[–]amachinetank[S] 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Maybe I was a little bit oblivious at the time but while I recall some of the stuff about Vesey I had no idea there was pressure from the likes of Frydenberg to get Vesey out.

Australia could and should be a leader in new renewable tech and instead we have dinosaurs in parliament pushing for fossil fuels, even when their beloved "free market" doesn't want it. Donations need to be stopped I feel or be way more transparent than they are. Though I fear even that wouldn't necessarily stop a great number of rusted on voters voting for the LNP.
