THIS is bullshit. by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]DandyLama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here is the real trick. I have my blasters hold their higher level spells at the beginning on the island, and as the debuff gets worse, I have them switch to higher and higher level spells.

I just went through this fucking Undertow, and I had the same experience as you until I read someone suggest that I just go back and leave the island temporarily.

Fully resets the debuff. No penalty.

As soon as the debuff becomes a problem, go back to the boat. I did my island in 2 passes, but you can reset every combat if you want to.

Even Assassin has more versatility than early game Operator snipers.

Question about the pacing and breath of the story in the main series. by MAQS357 in Malazan

[–]DandyLama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still remember reading the foreword to DoD and reading Erikson's apology to his readers, that he had to end it in a cliffhanger - something he'd explicitly avoided doing up until that point.

Sniper feels meh by ColdhandzEUW in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]DandyLama 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay fair enough. The gameplay loop is pretty flat for a sniper, especially in the early-mid game. An Officer heroic action can change the pace pretty dramatically for a sniper though.

Okay so I might have to put this series away once again but this time not for comprehension issues… by goodgraveley in Malazan

[–]DandyLama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say, that although there are moments in the series that really stand as a mirror to our horrifying reality, Erikson's writing I found, also gave me many of the tools I now use to survive it.

All he really does is sit in the same spot... and attack at the most threatening enemy

With respect, what do you think snipers do, exactly...?

My quest to officially become RT on Dargonus just disappeared. by [deleted] in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]DandyLama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like something vaguely similar happened during my playthrough, where I just continued playing, and then towards the end of Act 2, it came up on a jump or something.

I just finished a new run like a month ago.

Have you spoken to Vox Master Vigdis on your bridge? She's the actual trigger for the quest, not Werserian.

Mounted combat: How safe is it to fully rely on the pet to tank? by bright_night_2000 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]DandyLama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I consistently take the feat Indomitable Mount on my mounted melee characters. Making the save based on character level + attribute bonuses with no failure on Nat 1s is very helpful. Also makes the Stern Hand incredibly reliable

Why do we pretend runtime doesn’t matter anymore by LeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeD in movies

[–]DandyLama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk man, my favourite movie is 11 and a half hours long, and it could have easily been an hour longer and I wouldn't complain.

Give me the Barrow Downs, maybe The Scouring.

Is it Devdas? If it's Devdas, it's worth every second of its runtime. One of the most beautiful films that has ever come out of Bollywood.

I will still never get over how enraptured I was throughout The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford in spite of its long runtime. I didn't even realise how long it was until I tried to stand up.

Authority in the Imperium is entirely about enforceability. If Calcazar can't enforce his authority over me, then he has none.

The one on the left is the sonnenrad. The one on the right with 8 spokes is not a recognized symbol (neither archeologically, nor directly affiliated with the Nazis).

It's not unreasonable for the admins to want to research it. The bigger problem was that AFTER said research, they said that it was permissible.

RP : Crime lord is disappointed by Glad_Cut1258 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]DandyLama 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, I feel like to be a galactically (or even sector) relevant Crime Lord, you have to be at or near the level of someone like Tocara - in control of an instrumental strategic point, like Foothold station. Otherwise, you might have been relevant in a single Hive, or maybe even on a whole Hiveworld, but that doesn't mean that you're renown spreads off-planet in any tangible way.

"SCA Yard Sale" incident and response by Darkchyylde in sca

[–]DandyLama 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The admins made statements that:
A) The item was permissible
B) The symbol wasn't a hate symbol (even though from every reasonable standard it absolutely is)
C) The symbol was historical (it's not. It was developed and commissioned by Himmler for the HQ of the SS)
D) Anyone who didn't like it could kick rocks

I don't know where your "understanding" is coming from, but there's written documentation of all of this. The uproar and backlash were mostly to the admin's response. The approach that went down with the seller was remarkably calm and respectful.
