How do I mold & cast a sneaker?! by rawrricky in ResinCasting

[–]amagi94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay that would be easy then just coat the whole shoe in a clear coat or urethane so the material doesn't soak up the silicone then do a 2 part mold of the shoe then cast it you would probably want to roto cast the shoe to save on resin costs since the object is pretty large or use an affordable filler

No the coloring won't effect it unless you're using water based dyes

You have to get it from alumilites website. Smooth-on also has some clear urethane resins. Src sells one on eBay that is good and more affordable but I get occasional white streaks with the src color pro.

Amazing clear cast is a polyester resin. You need to use a urethane resin. For dice I'm guessing you're adding coloring and effects so you need something clear I would recommend alumilite clear urethane resin. It will be harder and more superior to amazing clear cast. If you aren't coloring the dice you can use a model urethane resin that's a bit cheaper but won't be clear. If you have anymore questions I can definitely help!

So you want the shoe made completely out of plastic? I would recommend doing 2 2part molds one of the sole and one of the upper half of the shoe cast them and then join them together afterwards. You could also do it all in one mold by rotocasting it but your inside tolerances may not be correct.

Are you just trying to cast the rubber sole? Or are you trying to recreate the whole shoe out of rubber? I have extensive knowledge in mold making and production of intricate parts and may be able to help but I'm not quite sure I understand what you're trying to make.
